Douglas Adams also springs to mind.
In Life, the Universe and Everything, two characters travel in time and land on the pitch at Lord's Cricket Ground. The reaction of the radio commentators to their sudden appearance is very similar to the reactions of commentators in a scene in the eighth episode of the 1965 – 66 story The Daleks' Master Plan, which has the Doctor's TARDIS materialise on the pitch at Lord's.

Great!

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
Funnily enough Adams tried to get his Krikkit Men story done in Doctor Who but the head guys kept knocking it back, so he changed it slightly to something slightly more subtle and it was made.

what about premiership footie players?
Well it is no scret that Phil Neville was a solid cricketer in his day before he choose football, Mike Atherton mentions in his book about playing with (or was against, I'm not sure) him and his brother and their father Neville Neville.

Wasn't there another member (not Mick Jagger) of the Rolling Stones who said he would have thrown the whole lot in to have played Test cricket for England?

Daniel Radcliffe... aka Harry Potter is someone you see them show on TV at matches.

And also one of Busted... or was it McFly? I remember one of them at a tsunami project in Sri Lanka with various other celebs/ex-cricketers and he was a decent player, I think he'd played to a fairly high junior standard.
Indeed, the drummer of McFly (Harry Judd) played for Uppingham.

Russel Crowe, his uncle is Jeff Crowe I believe.

Apart from that, Usain Bolt is a big fan of Hayden, Tendulkar and Chris Gayle.
