Erm.. he's only about 21 years old he's only played four First Class games. Of course his record is going to be average and of course he isn't good enough to play for Australia yet.

He's a very talented young batsmen though - his a couple of double tons for NSW Second XI earlier in the season and also hit one in Sydney First Grade IIRC. Pretty good start to his First Class career too.

Gave it a go but in the end just not classy enough IMO.
Yeah most likely right. Was hoping he'd be a decent alternative. The openers who bashed down the door in the last few summers (Papps and Bell) have turned out to be false dawns. I was hoping Redmond would be solid and grind out some decent innings, but it seems it will not be.

So who's next on the New Zealand openers chopping block?
If the selectors decide on someone new, Guptill is probably the front runner, McIntosh 2nd.

For guys already tried, possibly Papps. Could probably do well if he plays someone other than the South Africans.
