well apart from some Surrey off spinner whose name I've forgotten taking 376 Australian wickets at 2.67 each I didn't think anything else happened in 56 except Lancashire's famous victory over Leicestershire without losing a wicket

Nothing to do with Lanky or Leicestershire - is it true that you beat them without losing a wicket? I'd never heard that. Much more interesting than my question, but hey.

And nothing to do with Jim Laker except that this occurrence happened in the same Test in which he took 19 wickets.

Is this something whcih would not be generally noticed?
I doubt that many people at the time. If it happened now, which as I say is extremely unlikely, it would be quite extraordinary and would certainly be noticed.
