***Official Australia in India***

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
If you look back, you'll see most people have criticized India's over rates too. Stop trying to stir things up out of nowhere.
Not even remotely close to it being on the same level as the posting in regards to Ponting, which has been akin to the whine of a jumbo jet the past few weeks.

India have received criticism for their negative tactics in this thread though, to be fair, more-so than Australia, and that was a point in DCYE's post as well.

The Wheel is Forever
I read the thread, and there was nothing close to the ****-storm there's been around Australia's over rates. It's fair and apt, if it's not then delete it/ban me.
No one has said the over rates were good. You're the first one to imply people think theyare OK.

And wow, Vijay is a really good fielder. Had a great diving stop in the middle too.

Ponting seems to have a habit of continually doing it though AND he never gets fined or anything. so yea i think there is a validated difference between the two situations.

What's Shastri saying, I'm studying and not watching.
Shastri was criticising India's negative field setting and how tactcics like these are a negative advertisement for the game and how stuff like this would kill viewer interest for test cricket.
He's right.

The question is however, is it the Indian cricket team's responsibility to ensure the game is aesthetically pleasing for viewers? Or is it their responsibility to win cricket matches and win a test series?

God this sounds awfully familiar to the Sydney Swans/flooding argument in the AFL!
He was indeed criticising the somewhat defensive 8-1 off-side field, but his proposed remedies were worse than the disease. He was talking of limiting the first innings of tests to 100 overs & a limit on such fields a la the law about no more than two fielders behind square on the leg side introduced after 32/33.

AB's response was polite.

Hussey gone now. Superb fielding from Vijay & great work from Dhoni to whip the bails off. Oz in the mire a tad now. If White tons up maybe the selectors had a point after all...

International Coach
Time has come for Haddin to play a kind of knock that would justify his talent and silence his critics, c'mon mate!!

Yeah, it was written that Watson and Haddin's partnership in Bangalore was a defining moment for their careers.

Reckon it was just some decent batting, this will be defining!

Since when does Hussey get out in the 90's, or for that matter, since when does he get run out?

Watto & Haddin ftw (y)

"Harbhajan Singh to Hussey, OUT, The combo of Vijay and Dhoni get together to run out Hussey. What a turning point this is going to be. It was turned to right of silly point and Vijay lunged to make the stop. Hussey was outside the crease, looking for the single and Vijay flicked it towards the stumps, Dhoni gathered it outside off and whipped the bails off. The third umpire says that's out and the Indians mob Vijay. Did the ball slip out Dhoni's gloves as he broke the stumps. Hang on, will confirm after the replays. Replays are in: The ball hit the stumps. And so that's out. It didn't slip down to the groundbut fell on the stumps"

Wow bit of luck there i guess its evening out for tht dropped catch.
