Their best side crashing to 37/5 against Snyman is a tad worrying.

Still, they really are head and shoulders above the other Associates. And if NZ with 4.2 million people can mount a competitive team despite the sport being a distant second, it doesn't seem entirely unreasonable that Ireland could.

I wouldn't say the best side, we're missing some players including those who are taking their chances at playing for England rather than Getting Ireland Test status.

Being able to compete like NZ do is possible but a little harder as there are more sports in front of cricket here than in NZ where it is the second sport.

Nz still gets loads in terms of revenue from its International programme and ahd a fairly strong if not outrightly test class domestic system to keep replacing its current crop of players. Ireland like the rest of the associates do not. Where for example is the next Niall O'brien going to come from?

Any test-class players will defect to England before long, because they're living there anyway as you can't make a professional living playing cricket in Ireland. Or "What if Hadlee had moved to, and later played for, Australia?"

I feel Namibia definately deserves to be among the top 4 Associate Teams with the progress they have done! Frankly Bermuda qualifing to the 2007 Wc was a real set back... Hopefully they won't anymore... I wish there is Super 6 stage after groups for the 2009 WCQs format.

The WCQs are not lucrative enough for the TV people to go manufacturing all these excuses to add unnecessary fixtures to its tournaments.

Icc we are not mistaking u for promoting the game in China, we are because ur forgetting the few nations who are knocking the door for Test status. If Icc shows proper commitment for Nations like Ireland, Kenya, Scotland & Namibia for atleast 2 years with full support. We could have atleast two more Test Nations from these 4. I feel these 4 nations should keep touring each other for one 4 days game & 3 ODIs till the 2009 WCQs as there is no more Intercontinental cup between that.

I reckon its a wrap for Kenyan cricket this year. Hopefully the absence of elections this december means they actually go ahead with the Sahara leagues immediately from January so they avoid the problems of this last year.
