Bangladesh in South Africa

Given the way Virus is playing in SSS and recently, he deserves a place somewhere in the SA set up.

Also, the spell for Ntini in SSS looks like it's got him back on track. Give him another go ahead of Louw or Kleinveld.

No Ntini has had his chance and his performances in first class cricket should not take away the fact that he has no change of pace and can't bowl at the death of an innings. South Africa need bowlers with some variety for India and he has none and he will be on the wrong side of 30 when the 2011 World Cup comes around. It was a good and brave decision taken by CSA...

I think that louw shouldn't be judged until we see him play a bit more. And I think puttick should get a run in the odi side

Lolm at all this controversy, people seem to have forgotten an incident vs KP in the 20/20 world cup last year.
You get what you give imo.

The problem with dropping Ntini is the fact that you've ended up with Ontong and Philander in contention for "balance" reasons. I could see the argument for dropping him if you were picking the side on true merit, but if leaving Ntini out means picking Ontong, Ntini should play.

That's my point. What know what Ntini can do even though he's being dire recently, but it could have been a bad year. Now he's playing well in the SSS matches, so he hasn't lost it completely. Not only that but he gives experience to the currently bowling lineup where most of them have only been playing for a year for SA.

Louw was terrible against Sri Lanka A. I doubt he will be able to do well against the Aussies.

Haha interesting innings.. Great form from Louw, A Morkel looking worryingly poor at the moment though.. Love games from Potch though, it's like they only let the finest girls go to the cricket there.. As for Mortaza, well, perhaps Bangladesh would make a better fist of it if they gave up and played rugby.. Lucky he hit Amla and not someone prone to reacting back..

Ontong is a "specialist" quota player.. One of only two that have ever played for SA (IMHO), the other being Tsolekile.. It's a shame because he is a thoroughly nice chap who despises anything other than being picked on merit, but I'm afraid he aint being picked on merit at the moment..

South Africa could fulfill 'quotas' without resorting to out form of inferior cricketers…

XI

Smith
Amla
Kallis

Bouch
Albie
Botha
Parnell
Morne
Steyn

Squad
Virus
Elgar
Tsotsobe
Louw

The reason the likes of Ontong get a go is because the selectors are too afraid to chuck Parnell or any young cricketer into the firing line. Justin has been there, done it and failed. Virat Kohli and Tim Southee alongside Wayne were head and shoulders the best cricketers on view during the youth World Cup and have already made the step up, yet, South Africa are reluctant to let a left arm swing bowler whose relatively quick and can bat, into the a side which is in desperate of variety and an all-rounder.

Not sure if South Africa will be all together too pleased with the total. Potchefstroom is a road and 280 isn’t anything to tell Mum and Dad about. Thought Kallis innings took the piss to be honest and Albie should have smoked them. Amla was unlucky for he looked in sublime touch…

Not surprising to see the best quick in the world carve up the worst team in the game.

Getting himself into good touch before the Aussie series, excellent.

Yes plenty of evidence of Steyn's pacey outswingers, proving more than enough for the Bangladeshi's who looked pretty short on answers to his onslaught, I'm sure they won't be the only ones.

Yes Steyn bowled brilliantl and morne morkel recoverd well after a shaky first over it is very good to see them getting into some form where as the aussies are doing the opposite.

Shakib is turning into quite the allrounder that Bangladesh have been looking for. Kayes and Siddique are hopeless. Steyn got the 2 best batsmen when his team needed him the most. If raqibul could have stayed would have been intresting. Tamims run out is more of Ash and him not getting to bat together enough. Saw alot of positive out of this match
