ive the poor guy a break, he woke up the previous morning thinking about his Ranji double, and the next morning he is walking upto the Test team! I hope he doesnt go the Chris Rogers way.
Yeah I've never seen the guy play before so I'm more than happy not to pass judgement before the test. He's been picked as the replacement so I'm more than happy for him to be given the chance.ive the poor guy a break, he woke up the previous morning thinking about his Ranji double, and the next morning he is walking upto the Test team! Surely Cheeka has seen enough of him to take such a decision. Also, iirc, Dhoni might have had a look at him during his Chennai stint in the IPL. Maybe.Yeah I've never seen the guy play before so I'm more than happy not to pass judgement before the test. He's been picked as the replacement so I'm more than happy for him to be given the chance.
appears as if Vijay is in good nick .... hope he does well, if he gets to play .... but you cannot rule out Dravid openingOnce he was done with the fielding, Vijay briefly disappeared into the changing room and emerged padded up. He headed towards the spinners' net and Harbhajan, although he had just begun batting, made way.
The first ball was from Dhoni, bowling gentle offbreaks, and Vijay padded it away before preparing to face Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma, who was also bowling extremely slow.
He played the majority of the deliveries off the back foot but came forward when the ball was extremely full or flighted. The shots that stood out because of their frequency was the back-foot punch on the offside, the cut and the whip off the pads. He even attempted to sweep Mishra a couple of times, a shot not used often by most Indian batsmen. Eventually he charged Mishra and hit him superbly into the second tier of stands behind the straight boundary.
Vijay left the spinners net after 25 minutes - allowing Harbhajan to resume - and headed to face pace from a collection of nets bowlers. He handled them with relative ease but, when he next takes guard, it will be a whole new ball game.
Nah, Dhoni has confirmed Vijay will play.appears as if Vijay is in good nick .... hope he does well, if he gets to play .... but you cannot rule out Dravid opening
I've seen him in action during the Challenger series, and he looks a steady player. Not one to take huge risks, he batted in complete control and scored a lot of runs to help his team. He can also attack when needed- but that was, for that team, all the time, with the others not going hard enough. I haven't seen him field too much, though the fielding was atrocious in that series- but no blunders committed by him that were highlighted. We don't expect present-day Indian players to lag behind on the field- though Munaf Patel seems an exception.Yeah I've never seen the guy play before so I'm more than happy not to pass judgement before the test. He's been picked as the replacement so I'm more than happy for him to be given the chance.
Stomach bug doing the rounds, I believe.I wonder why the Aussies haven't even named a twelve. I did see that three players had missed training on Tuesday (Clarke, Lee and I can't remember the third) and there weren't any photos of them there Wednesday either. I wonder if they have fitness issues.
Clarke does seem to have a poor constitution, often seems to have stomach bugs.Stomach bug doing the rounds, I believe.
EDIT: Just saw your edit.
He's fine until there's 5 overs to go.Clarke does seem to have a poor constitution
Top CallHe's fine until there's 5 overs to go.
Yeah that was a close one.Top Call
Mishra nearly done him over again with a wrong un on the final over off the day in Delhi if not for the faintest inside edge
Same as what Lee has done.I'm crossing my fingers Krejza will play today...c'mon Australia, pick Krejza.
Also, if White retains his spot AGAIN I am going to piss myself laughing.
Averaging 18 with the bat and 60 with the ball. What exactly has he done in this series to merit holding his place for 4 straight tests?
