The BCCI shouldn't be doing this anyway, but with India you're 1-0, don't do something ****ing stupid you idiots!

Typical India 8-)

Kidding. But seriously, I think the match referee tends to blow out every little dummy spit between players on the field these days, bringing it into the spotlight and causing controversies like this, when really, everyone should be focused on the piss poor state of Indian pitches.

Hang on, Murali Vijay? Very left field selection there. At least the TN crew can't complain if he's selected over Badri.

The situations are different though.
Katich and Gambhir had a spray of words at each other and Katich played silly buggers by getting in his way, and it was all calmed down by Bowden and Clarke.
On the other hand, Gambhir directly elbowed Watson after they had a spray of words, something that couldn't be ignored or left on the field.
ha ha the best man to have things settelled ....he would have gone and said to katich we will give it ball by ball dont have a go at once

Gambhir will be a flat track bully. When we start touring overseas again, we'll find that out IMO.
He's had issues in the past and I've been one of many harsh critics of his ability to perform against quality attacks on sporting pitches. Yet he's improved out of sight and it hasn't just been the pitches. He may fail on difficult pitches but a) that hardly matters in modern cricket b) give him a chance because this is clearly a different Gambhir. You've written off Dhoni's temperament, then the Indian pace attack and now Gambhir - going by how the first two are turning out, seems like a good luck charm. Keep at it.

Let's hope the BCCI runs out of time to start any more **** about the Gambhir issue - they can do whatever they want once the series is over.

Heh. Quite true. I remember seeing somewhere SS saying Dhoni should never be the Indian captain

M Vijay is certainly deserving selection. He's been one of the consistent scorers for TN last season, and just last yesterday capped it with a brilliant 243. He and fellow opener Abhinav Mukund deserves to be given a look in. I am glad Vijay caught the eye of selectors.

If it's another flat pitch the only way we're going to win is if we win the toss and bat forever, wearing the Indians out and then hoping for two collapses. Haha. Looks like it'll be 1-0 which is a pretty fair result of the overall cricket played.

And I don't think BCCI is really going to do anything foolish esp given India is 1-0 up. They did once with Bhajji, but that had full support from the Indian crowd, not this time.

"I went down and had a look at the wicket yesterday, it's rock hard like concrete and there's no grass on it," "With no history to the wicket, we don't know if it's going to bounce, or stay low, or what it's going to do. One thing I know is that it is going to spin, it's so bare. Hopefully we win the toss", Ponting said.
So that's not really great news from an Aussie POV, and as Ponting said winning the toss becomes very crucial in such conditions, and if that doesn't happen then it would be a uphill task for Australia from there on.

While Ponting has no control over the fall of the coin, he is also uncertain as to what will happen in the morning when he walks out to the toss. Gautam Gambhir's appeal against a one-match suspension for elbowing Shane Watson in the third Test in Delhi was turned down by the ICC on Tuesday, but the Indian board has "rejected" the ruling.

"It's going to be an awkward situation for me to be put in tomorrow if I get out there for the toss and the guy that's been rubbed out has his name on the team sheet," Ponting said. "I need to be clear, and Cricket Australia needs to be clear, on that."
So Ponting to some extent expects India to defy the ICC ruling and go ahead and pick Gambhir for the 4th test, well things could surely get nasty if that happens.

With M Vijay a lock to open the innigs, I feel a little bad about Badrinath. The guy should be next in line, but I guess you have to pick an opener for another opener. Hoping the likes of Yuvraj Singh or Rohit Sharma don't get Ganguly's spot for the England series. Badrinath deserves that position.

Every once in a while the ball would get past Vijay and speed towards the boundary. The first couple of times, Vijay turned around and went to collect the ball himself but eventually Robin seemed to tell him that the group of ball boys would do the needful.

Considering how good Badrinath is in the field, this could be a factor in who plays. I've never seen M Vijay play but if he is a poor or average fielder then this could cost India. Hope he's a good fielder though and just had a bad training session.
