***Official Australia in India***

Tell ya what, Brett Lee is a phenomenal athlete. 6 overs today and he's still sending them down at 90mph at 32 years of age and has been right up there for speed his whole spell. For most blokes, that sort of speed is a shock-ball, not stock!
All that is even more amazing considering Lee was one of the most injury prone cricketers in world cricket during the first phase of his career, he was almost similar to Watto in that regard, but its really inspiring how he worked so hard on his fitness and bowling during the time he spent on the sidelines as the 12th man for a considerable amount of time in order to turn himself to the superb cricketer he is today, so kudos to him for that.

AWTA but damn, if that wasn't a sweet late-cut from SRT.
SRT has been in sublime touch right through this series, so for the Aussies to have any realistic hope of bowling out India here, they need to get him out soon.

Gambhir has obviously been excellent this series but I've lost count of the number of times he's edged just short of the keeper and slips

It'll be interesting to see how he performs outside the subcontinent because there is definitely a weakness there

Saw him in the Commonwealth Series earlier this year in Australia. Granted those were ODI's but those pitches had more bounce that the wickets we have seen in this series.
I thought he handled them fairly well - and correct if I'm wrong, but I do believe he was the highest run scorer in that series.

I reckon he's got a very good temperament - his judgement as to what to play and leave outside off looks sound and that's not a quality you associate with a lot of openers from the subcontinent.
He also doesn't fall across the stumps like he used to earlier - the sign of guy who can adapt his game.

He has his faults and he will have to continue to adapt his game but I think he has the ingredients to be a fairly decent opener for India.
He' certainly looks more promising than any Indian opener I've seen in the last 15-20 years with the possible exception of Chopra and the the surprising one of Sehwag.

once again india look to play for a draw instead of trying to win and go 2-0 up in the series. guilty as charged. it was obvious they were looking to draw this match when they sent the nightwatchmen in last night. india will never be number one with this kind of attitude. guilty of doing this in england 07 as well. oh well. if it was australia batting right now they would try and force a result.
How about Australia try and get India all out for once? They haven't able to get India all out since 1st inngs of 1st test,

I reckon Dravid's career to be over. India has given him too many opportunities to roar back into form. Now to get someone reliable out there. Or Tendulkar can step up and assume no.3 position.

The irony of it. Australia has to rely on a competitive declaration to have a chance of winning this match.

What is wrongin playing out draws. And I dont think India are in a winning position thanks to their pathetic bowling and ultra pathetic fielding which allowed Aus to get away. Now, all that is left in the match is to go and get a draw. Draws are part of cricket boy. And nothing wrong in that when you are 1-0 up.

And don't et too emotional over it. Understand that Australia is not the same as it was, SST.

Yeah, agreed really. India are 1-0 up at home with one test to play - there's no need to do anything silly to force a result if there isn't one there.

Honestly, how was India's bowling pathetic? Considering they were missing Kumble for a while, I thought they were pretty good. Just because Australia scored well doesn't automatically mean India bowled poorly, reckon they, like the Aussies, were just defeated by the pitch. It's a road. Christ, it's flatter than flat on day 5, would have to bat until day 8 before we see any movement from the pacers.

No need to get so personal about it and start insulting him, thanks.

It has nothing to do with your point so as well as the fact that it's against the forum rules and will likely get you banned if you keep it up, it reduces the credibility of what you're trying to say.

Consider this an official warning.

Bowling was poor, because, Zaheer and Ishant were a long mile from their best. Ok, they bowled sometimes well. And Mishra was way off the mark, even though he got the ball to turn in bizzare fashion, did not really trouble them consistently. But again, he's just palyinghis second test. And Kumble was very ordinary, and his absence was detrimental because someone liek Sehwag had to bowl a big chunk to make up for his non-performance/absence.

Agreed, Aus batsmen batted well. But all those catches dropped, really helped their cause.

Aus batted like champs. Not many of us gave them a chance with the ball spitting and bouncing on Day 3, but each player applied himself.

I was hoping for wickets to fall in a cluster, but they managed to string one partership after another.

Nevermind the quality of the bowling (agreed, they didn't apply consistent pressure). All credit to some quality batting.

India has more worries than gains because,

1. Dravid has continued to be underperforming and might have played his last test.
2. Sehwag yet to perform with the bat.
3. Kumble still not performing.
4. Clarke and Hayden finds form and looking damn dangerous.
5. No Harby.

Surprised that Ponting hasn't thrown the ball yet too either Watson or Katich who were quite effective in the 1st innings.

EDIT: Mitch knocks over Gambhir, though got to say Gambhir is unlucky to given out there.
