Been their done that, you can come up with as many reasons as you like does it make it morally right for 1 team to sheep steal a huge number of players and 2nd weaken opposition teams.Ie mclaren vs pollock woulkd have been an ideal replacment,Morgan;s and joyce's loss for ireland has weakened ireland.
That said the new kolpak rules make it hugely tougher to sign kolpaks,i think counties will move to the EU law of getting players, like hamish marshall who never play for england but maybe ireland.Jason kregja has been named as a possible as he is in the australian squad, and 2nd has a polish passport, big cash could go his way to sign an eu contract and not play for his country.Somewhat like hamish marshall apart from his icl deal.

TT was playing with ya:cool:
As for the other guys LMAO at the reasons why its ok for england to sheep steal players from other countries and thus weaken other sides.I find it amusing eople defending the ECB and counties acting like a monoploist and corporation. They all must work in big business is all i can say, give me a small business everytime.
kregja like hamish marshall were examples, both high profile examples, know i didn't come up with the name kregja that was used in an article on the online telegraph which suggested counties would turn less to kolpak players and more to eu players in the future.

Morgan and Joyce shouldn't even be playing international cricket for Ireland though, as Ireland ideally shouldn't be an international team.

And as said, England aren't stealing South Africans. South Africans are deciding the increased wage (which has nothing to do with cricket and simply to do with economic conditions and the strength of the pound vs the rand) is worth sacrificing their "own" countries for.

The only thing that is going to change this is a change of qualification rules. Until that happens, no-one is doing anything wrong.

If there were any EU passport players who were good enough, they'd have been signed by now. Krejza, obviously, is absolute rubbish and hopefully no county will sign him.

I dno whether anyones mentioned it, but Joyce has moved from Middlesex from Sussex 'in an attempt to revive his England career'. It also says that he will play in the champions trophy before moving in the new season. Also confirmed that they've properly signed Neil Dexter (think he was on-loan?) from Kent. Article here.

I seem to remember you saying moreorless the same thing when we discussed the matter a few months back - that Ireland aren't ever going to be a serious separate force as the best players will always play for England instead, but that the notion of a combined England&Wales + Ireland (+ Scotland) team just isn't possible because no Irish people would feel a strong enough allegiance to it.

It's a shame Middlesex seem to think Dawid Malan is a better batsman than Joyce. I'll be pretty surprised if this is the case.

"Ireland will never be test-class because all their best players go to England, and i don't begrudge them that" is not moreorless the same thing as "Ireland shouldn't even be an international team".

Ireland does not have permission to offer its best players test cricket therefore it cannot guarantee its best players availability on the field to push a case with the ICC to allow Ireland to give its best players Test cricket. Bit of a vicious circle there.

Back on topic I find its a goo thing Sussex have extended Ragheb Aga's contract athough I hope this does not dissuade Kenya from picking him.

Hmm, I don't see the point in being an international team if you're never going to be a serious force TBH. As I say, for mine the preferable situation would be Ireland becoming a County Championship team with the international side becoming The British Isles (or The British And Irish Isles if some would prefer) but sadly if that's not possible because no-one from Ireland would support it, then that's the way things are.

Ireland being an international team in the current situation creates more problems than it solves. I$C$C can pretend they've created another team with this expansion stuff when, really, they've done nothing of the sort; Irish players have to qualify for 3 years to play Test cricket; and the possibility to unite the UK and Ireland with some sport or other isn't used.

Will Aga be eligable as a British player if he's playing for Kenya?

I'm not 100% clear on the regulations there.

His situation is similar to Shane Warne's though in his case he has got a British passport rather than a German one and I do not thin Cricket Kenya are particularly againts British passport holders in the team if Seren Waters and Ravi Shah are to be taken as case points
