GG elbowing Watson was unwarranted, but I think Katich's was equally horrible. Maybe the match referee adds two and two, and let both of them go. I really would feel sorry for Aussies and their "hard boy" image, if they complain to match referree for that "elbow" thing.
Ref should throw the book at the both of them. We do not want to see a precedent being set for tit-for-tat misdemeanors

Yea, we do. It's the logical next step as the verbal abuse keeps getting worse and worse. I'm anxiously waiting for someone to hit the opposition bowler in the head with a bat. Maybe a fractured skull will get people to do something, we'll see. And aside from the guy with a broken skull and the other guy in jail, it'll be a better game for it.

What score would you be happy with for India? I'd be comfortable with around 400-420, though I wouldn't be happy with anything less than 500 on this pitch. Anything less, and Australia can come back strong and put us under a lot of pressure in the second innings.
I think this pitch might look like a batting paradise atm, but believe me when India would bowl it would look otherwise, the pitch is really dry and as the game progresses the track is gonna crumble and spinners would surely have a good time, even today Katich was getting good turn of the deck so one can just imagine how dangerous Mishra and Kumble would prove on the last few days of this test, so Australia are in big trouble already in this test and they would have to play some unbelievable cricket from here on to bounce back in this game.

 at the Australian headlines, "Gambhir at the Centre of Delhi Powderkeg". The article, supposed to be a bulletin, talks 90% about the Katich incident and Watson incident. It says, Katich tried to field off his own bowling.

I remember Broad fining Ganguly 70% of his match fee and then banning him for six matches for slow over rates. So I'm waiting on what happens with Ponting.

I'd be OK with whatever punishment Gambhir gets, it was unacceptable. Katich should get some too though.

It'll certainly be interesting to see what Broad does.
Most likely he'll have another chat to Ponting about how to improve their over-rate ... no fines anything of course. Gambhir will get a fine or suspension... certainly what he did was wrong but i'd like to see Watson and Katich getting fined for abuse but pretty much doubt it. Apprently according to Chris Broad aussie players can't be fined and they can do no wrong on field. 8-)

I don't think so. Considering Ponting managed to get in 89 overs today, despite using the extra half hour.

Gambhir should get a suspension for what he did, there should be no excuse really, but so should everyone that provoked him and tried to disrupt his batting by targetting him with verbal abuse.
I can't see how the Indians can complain at Watson giving a few verbals, there was plenty at him when he was batting with Lee from Zaheer and Harbahjan. Enough that Zaheer felt the need to call Lee up to apologise, apparently.

Have to agree with it.
Gambhirs elbow seemed to go towards watson, but katich also deliberately tried to stop him by getting in way and watson started bad mouthing without any reason and put his hand out when gambhir was running the first..
Not too forget the slow over rate.

Can anyone tell me the usefulness of picking a spinner if you're going to give him four overs in a day?
When you find someone that can, please refer him to me.

What a poooooooooor selection. Why play White if he is not good enough to be a proper spin option? Play a batsman in his position, who cares, at least the batsman will make more runs.

Yea, Watto shouldn't be punished, considering no one ever is for verbal stuff. Katish should be fined, Gambhir should be fined/suspened.

Inzi got fiend 80% or somthing of his match fee is a one-dayers by Broad as well.

Amazing how sublime was Tendulkar's innings. Anyone here arguing Tendulkar's past his peak, should have a see at that!! It's such a shame he went into a shell just before tea and got himself out. Looked good for a 150 atleast!

I didn't like the Gambhir elbow on Watson, I didn't see the Katich thing. I thought maybe Gambhir getting on top frustrated the Aussies who probably did something to fire him up. It looked like Watson whispered something to Gambhir as he ran through, but it didn't appear like the kind of thing that should get an elbow in return.

Gambhir copping a lot of flak here. It always makes sense to actually watch the game instead of just following cricinfo.

Gambhir was running down the pitch, and Watson saw him coming and delibrately stuck out his elbow straight in his path. Thankfully Gambhir managed to avoid getting hit himself, and let his own elbow poke out on the second run in a tit fot tat response. If Watson doesn't get punished for this but Gambhir does, it wouldn't surprise me with Chris Broad being the match referee. Watson has no defence. The bowler is not expected to make way for the batsman, however he isn't expected to stick out an elbow in his path either.

Watson put his hand/shoulder in front of gambhir and gave gambhir verbals when he was going for the first run.
If the verbals included abuse then he should be fined or even banned based on previous record as zaheer was for giving hayden a send off or bhajji was down under.

Yea, I think he has a history of being tough on slow over rates. I was shocked at Ganguly's six game suspension by Broad.

Anyway, I am not sure on the rule, is it 90 overs per day or 90 overs in six hours? If its the former, then Ponting is fine.
