***Rugby League World Cup 2008 Thread***

Cant believe how much I don't care for this tournament right now. I think for me its because it's one of the weakest looking Australian teams I've seen in a long time and we should still probably win it. Also the fact it's now cricket season doesn't help. Couldn't even get myself interested enough to make the 15 minute drive out to Bruce to watch Scotland vs France.
Same here.

Find it very hard to get interested in league, post-GF. The exception for me was back in 1990 and 1994 with the Kangaroo tours which I loved to death. Almost feel like going to the WC final will be a chore.

Tonga vs. Ireland has been a cracker. One of the best games I've watched all season.

Going to Fiji vs. France on Saturday at WIN, hoping for a good game.
Yeah, was backing the Micks so am mildly gutted at the result. Great game tho; hope Samoa/Tonga matches up to it.

Doubt Ganson's made any Tongan friends after tonight either. Their time-wasting at the end was pretty shocking tho, it must be said.

Yeah agree with DCYE, Ireland vs Tonga was awesome, really was rooting for the Irish, shame they couldn't get up.

But how good was it to see two sides play last night who weren't wooried about completion rates, maintaining possession and running all night from dummy half?
Actually reminded me of when league was entertaining.

Yeah, both sides adventurous to a fault. One of the Tongans was still looking to off-load in the tackle on the 2nd or 3rd when they were 2 points up with about 30 seconds left. Dymock was probably tearing his hair out at times, but made for a good spectacle.

Haha best post ever. Caution to the wind and just play footy. Long may it continue.

Got me first prediction wrong in style; went for the French who succumbed 42-6 to the Fijians.

NZ destroying PNG meanwhile. 22-0 after 39 mins. We were 16-12 down to them at the break.

Missing too many 1 on 1 tackles & the kicking game is terrible could do with sean long in that department

Yeah, he retired after his "antics" down under in 2006 tho, sadly. Never travelled all that well anyway either, really.
