***Rugby League World Cup 2008 Thread***

I'm looking forward to it. Mind you I am going to the New Zealand v PNG game at Skilled on Saturday week. It is rubbish that the games are on Fox Sports, not on FTA.

According to an article I read in the paper the other day, coverage of this World Cup will be shown in 125 countries, from places like Germany to Albania, to Indonesia to Brazil. Not surprised about Germany, because if you have Sultana (Copyright BB) then you will get coverage of it (I saw the 2007 NRL GF from an Irish pub in Frankfurt albiet as a replay). But make of that, what you will.

The bloke on Sky said it was a full house at Townsville. Think my specs must be broken cos I can see a lot of empty seats.

Yeah, half-full would be charitable.

Meanwhile, the first twatty penalty given by Hock. 8-) Won't be the last. Gifted them field position & Wellens had to clear up behind the try line.

Bollox. 6-6. Nicely worked try from the Kumuls, but arse defending from us. Lines we're running in attack are too predictable as well. Time for McGuire to come on for me.

Watched a bit of the game earlier, I know next to nothing about RL, from everything I'd read though I expected it to be a lot more straightforward than it was. England had to work for that victory

Glad the Papuan's put on a bit of a fight. Found myself gunning for them to create an upset, but, alas. England will need to improve quite considerable for next week vs Australia.

Coming up with a huge result against a highly rated side in the first game of the tournament and being the crowd favourites thereafter.

Of course Ch 9 out do themselves by placing 60 minutes > live coverage of the Australia v New Zealand game.

It's ridiculous. Everyone is whingeing how the World Cup is a waste of time, well they put every game with an hour delay. The logic never ceases to shock.

Cant believe how much I don't care for this tournament right now. I think for me its because it's one of the weakest looking Australian teams I've seen in a long time and we should still probably win it. Also the fact it's now cricket season doesn't help. Couldn't even get myself interested enough to make the 15 minute drive out to Bruce to watch Scotland vs France.

Who would want to see that match though? In all honesty it's hardly worth the $15 general admission to see two teams with not very many big name players. Have a quad series (Australia, New Zealand, England and Papua), saves all the embarrasing matches that will come when there is no fans watching.

How big of a loss will Jordan Rapana be while he goes on his two year Morman Mission? Fair play to the lad though, you have to do what you have to do I guess.

Oz way too good for NZ on the day. Will make all kinds of a mess of us next weekend unless we raise our own game considerably.

Tonga vs. Ireland has been a cracker. One of the best games I've watched all season.

Going to Fiji vs. France on Saturday at WIN, hoping for a good game.
