I really don't think one acheive anything but a pound or two around one's tummy by arguing in an internet forum. Though I cannot change prejudices of some people here, it's just the love for the game that keeps us all going, I believe. I am entitled to opinion, and I can back it up with stats. We all look forward to healthy discussions right?
True that...

1 ODI 100 to remember in 6yrs of International cricket? He's got talent, but no brains, no temperament. Maybe he'll do well in 20-20. But test cricket?
He should have 3 Test Doubles already if he had Support from his Teammates.

It's alot harder to bat when everytime you come in to bat the Score is 35/4 or 60/5. Espically for a Batsmen of his Attacking Instincts.

Like I said before, he's a very good captain, Attacking field settings, Smart bowling Changes, he always tries to pump up the commrades.

These Cracks Are going to get Masisve, It would be in the Best Interest for us to Bat out another 4 Sessions if we have the Capability to do so.

Would be nice.

Fairly awful display that but I've got to give a bit of credit to Redmond. Yardley was talking about him as if he'd urinated on his grandmother's grave, but I thought he played reasonably well. He was mature, composed and patient and the vast majority of the balls he played hit the middle of the bat. He was looking really good to me until he got out to a beauty of a ball.

Still needs to do a bit to convince me he's How's long-term opening partner, but it was a step in the right direction IMO.

Brian Lara averaged in the 50s despite having a terrible team around him for so many years. Ok, Ashraful is no Lara, but going by your argument, if had some semblance of temperament, he'd be averaging atleast in the mid thirties right? That he is an aggressive batsman cannot be an excuse for his poor average, as on the contrary he'd have a higher avg and a higher SR.

And what is his average as captain? A captain needs to inspire others with his own performance first.

I hope New Zealand lose so they get a massive wake-up call and the top and middle order actually scores some runs for once.

I feel alot of the Crticism he gets is unjust

Lets have an Avi bet on Ashraful, You put up an Avi of Ashraful if he Reaches 75 in the 2nd Innings and I'll put up an Avi of whomever you want if he doesn't

Deal?

Who's next Sachin in your Avi anyway?

John ****ing Bracewell has to go NOW!

Daniel Flynn just isnt that good he has had numerous chances to stand up during a collapse but hasnt taking one.

I am getting bloody tired of checking the score and seeing our ****house batting order be 45-5 or 67-7, it ust happens too much and its always the same guys who give us some respectability.

Blackcaps. You better turn this ****ing **** around and chase 300+ to win or all but 3 or 4 of you should be axed!

For the Record

It's alot tougher being a Bangladeshi fan (Wouldn't trade it for anything in the world), but were striving for Mediocity ... You've had chances to Win World Cups and will continue to. This Probably a blessing getting rid of some Dead Wood after this series.

Completely forgot about this match, just spotted a post in the Aus-India thread saying "Could be worse, we could be NZ :laugh:" and thought, ****, checked cricinfo, I am staggered. What's going on?!

All well and good, but if you can't score runs you arent going to last for long.

I wouldn't exactly call it a beauty of a ball...drift in and straightened a touch...exactly the same as every other ball.

As Fleming said, we can't bat for ****.

How = rubbish
Redmond = rubbish
Ryder = dumb fat prick
Taylor = terrible umpiring decision...compounded by the fact he's the best player of spin in the team
McCullum = worst shot in the history of test cricket
Flynn = doesnt know what ball to play what shot to...rubbish
Oram = rubbish
Vettori = legend, best batsman in the team
Mills = TERRIBLE umpiring decision...missed the ball by about 6 inches and given caught behind
Patel = blinding catch...should have hit the ball along the ground
O'Brien = yet to bat...but in for some abuse if he doesnt last atleast 30 balls

Wishful thinking. It'll take more than a loss to a **** team to make **** players into good ones i'm afraid...

A nice thought, but do we have that many players who would do any better?
Against Bangladesh? Yes, I can think of quite a few players. Peter Fulton, Neil Broom, Neil Parlane, Martin Guptill, Corey Anderson...I guarantee these guys would have put up a better display than the bunch of losers out there at the moment.

You're a god damn joke. You and all the other Kiwi fans who give up when we perform poorly. I know this is ridiculous but come on. Voltman's rant was one of the worst as well.

We've performed extremely poorly, and we need to take a good hard look at ourselves. There's been various problems in NZ cricket for a while now, from the coach being a complete douchefag, ****ty selection policies, the handling of Bond and mismanagement of players in general.

Sometimes you can only genuinely make a change and improvement once you've hit rock bottom. I think we're hitting bottom in this tour, first losing the ODI, the generally **** batting efforts and this test.

It looked as though we were heading in the right direction in both England series. We lost them both but there were at least positives.
Our bowling is sorted, and not the problem. However our fielding has been declining for a while now, after we could claim to be one of the best in the world in that discipline.
The shot selection and technique of our batsman has been atrocious though, for some time. Nearly all the team can be guilty of that.

First change needs to be Bracewell. It's going to happen soon but I wish it was sooner. ****s been ****ing the team over for a while.
Get new/more/better batting coaches. Seems the Bracewell disease of concentrating on ODI cricket has spread and now we don't know how to bat in the long form.
Get a new fielding coach, or rehire the one we had a while ago. Disgraceful.
Re-organise the batting line up. it looks like a patchwork quilt with McCullum at 5, Flynn six, Ryder 3. McCullum's test batting has been a deadset bad joke and an embarrassment in world cricket - I currently rate him as the worst keeper-batsman in test cricket, which is reflected by him being (again, IMO) the second best ODI keeper-bat at the moment. He simply doesn't deserve to be as high up in the order as he is, until he learns how to bat properly in the long format.
Ryder still doesn't strike me as a number three. He's a talented stroke player and would be best suited to be in the more traditionally counter-attacking position of number 5. Plus he's a fat **** and we need someone coming in at 3 who can stay in there for a long period of time.
Flynn impressed me in England with a bit of grit, but he's surely lost any credit he had in the bank. Send him back to domestic cricket and give him more batting coaching. Simply not good enough IMO.
Redmond continues to unsettle me slightly. I really do rate him, and apart from Vettori I think he made the best effort of anyone in this innings to try and settle in and make some runs. I really hope he makes a big score in the second innings and second test, much better player than all his innings suggest, but it's getting harder and harder to justify that.

Think we should bring Fulton back at number 3 and try Ryder at 5 for Australia.

Imo:
Redmond
How
Fulton
Taylor
Ryder
Oram
McCullum
Vettori
Mills
Southee
Martin/O'Brien

And please, all you Kiwi's who are rubbishing the team and removing your support of the team gtfo of this thread if you're serious about it. We have the worst fans by far of all cricketing nations.
