***Official*** New Zealand in Bangladesh

Athlai

Not Terrible
He bowled well in England, granted.

And he may well do fantastically well here against Bangladesh. I would just much rather see Southee, a guy who, as you said, has many years ahead of him be getting game time before the tour to Australia, and precious experience in the sub-continent. O'Brien is 32, he has probably 3 seasons max left in him, and even then, I don't think he is international quality.
Reckon O'Brien deserves his own day in the sun TBH. Good long service to NZ cricket.

Incredible stuff

Bangladesh should be 0/3 but both Saleh and Iqbal have survived, being dropped from relatively easy chances

O'Brien and Mills opening the bowling wouldnt scare the Macleans College 2nd XI batting lineup. At least Southee has a bit of pace and generates good bounce.
You serious?

Not saying anything about ability, but O'Brien is quicker than Southee for sure

On that note, anyone else annoyed by the speed-ball radars on this tour? Consistently about 10kph too low.

Not to mention Mills being our best seamer for quite a while now.

I'm a little worried Bangladesh might end the day 4/160 off 90 overs or something. We've missed our early chances and they've completely shut up shop. Of course, the odds of Bangladesh knuckling down like that are pretty low.

IMO, Bangla's two best batsmen are at the crease (Saleh is gun) and these two are the most likely to build a big partnership. I have absolutely no confidence in Ashraful, as talented as he may be. He's just as likely to get a golden as he to pass 30.

If these two both get out, I don't see Bangladesh still batting at stumps. Vettori just smashes these guys for wickets when he plays them, regardless of how he went in the ODI series.

I thought the same thing when I heard about the two dropped catches - got home too late so actually missed the drama of the first few overs. Hopefully they won't be too costly.

Mills=gun. But I don't think "quite a while" is really fair, Shane Bond wasn't that long ago.
RSA in late 2007 if I remember correctly? Fair point. Mind you Mills was out of that series due to an injury, but he's been the best since Bond last played.

Oddly enough Bond is still in the top ten test bowlers.

These 2 need to make those Drops Costly, It's Bangladesh's Intention to Bat out as many sessions as Possible
