I can't believe I ate the whole thing
The commentators are saying the batsmen should have a go...not sure I agree, I think it'd do more good for their confidence if they could bat out their 50 and get to 180-odd, rather than blast their way to 120 all out.
Considering they're 6 down I don't think making 180 odd would do the team much favours, apart from proving they can bat out 50 overs instead of losing by being bowled out.

Would rather see these two go for it. Mortaza can hit the long ball and they have an extremely slim chance of a series win. I know it's extremely unlikely but the fact is it's a possibility, and yeah, go for it imo.

If Bangladesh want to stop people criticising them and their standard of play, they should play to win rather than play to get beaten by less each time.

TBH making the Jeeves appreciation society a homophone of gist was intentional, took me a while to do actually. I just want members.

Don't get my hopes up...

Bondy could it be true???
Don't get your hopes up.

The BCCI official going to speak with the ICL guy said it was just a formality and nothing would amount from it.

God I hate the BCCI and ICC.

Doesn't seem to have much of an air of excitement surrounding this Test series in the last few days guys ? Would I be right in thinking you believe this going to be a mere formality in completing a comfortable series victory over Bangladesh ?

That may be true, but there may be one or two uncomfortable moments along the way. The home side will no doubt have plenty of spin options on a track expected to assist the slow bowlers, so it may be pretty slow going at times, and patience possible key. As ever the rotation of the strike will frustrate Bangladesh, once they get passed a fairly useful opening attack of Masrafe and Shahadat.

Bangladesh's batting, imo, will continue to hamper their progress and while I expect one or two cameos of potential, I'm not convinced they have the skills or know-how to post any really challenging totals against the likes of Vettori, Patel, Mills, Oram and another.

I just dont think anybody really cares......
Fair enough. But even a low key series like this between, with all due respect, two of the poorer Test nations, still has elements of excitement within surely. Looking to see how Jamie How goes, was impressed with him over the 2 series' against England.

Apparently the Chittagong pitch is a mess of cracks already. It's going to turn and keep low from day one. Vettori to take another ten and Bangladesh to go down by an innings, with NZ only making 350 or so.

Going by what has been said of the pitch NZ have to bat first, which will be very interesting. Looking forward to whatever happens.

From what I have heard O'Brien is going to be selected ahead of Southee. Crazy decision for mine. Southee bowled pretty well in the One Dayers and I thought deserved a crack with the red ball. O'Brien and Mills opening the bowling wouldnt scare the Macleans College 2nd XI batting lineup. At least Southee has a bit of pace and generates good bounce.

Bah...the test is half ruined for me already!

Give the man his due, he's bowled well and deserves his chance. Southee has many many years ahead of him and we should hardly feel the need to spend his worth so early in his career. I reckon he'd get a lot more bowling and getting slaughtered by Aussie than bowling and slaughtering Bangladesh.

He bowled well in England, granted.

And he may well do fantastically well here against Bangladesh. I would just much rather see Southee, a guy who, as you said, has many years ahead of him be getting game time before the tour to Australia, and precious experience in the sub-continent. O'Brien is 32, he has probably 3 seasons max left in him, and even then, I don't think he is international quality.

Can anyone tell me why Raqibul hasn't featured for Bangladesh on this tour? Injuries? Studies? Bad domestic form?

He looked a really promising batsman to me. If he could develop a more solid back foot defence he'd be awesome.
