*Official* English Football Season 2008-2009

Beckham a definite good option on the bench, as his ability to play a killer ball is not likely to go anywhere anytime soon. As such, 15-20 minutes is a good period of time to play him in.

CBF getting into too much England discussion. Obv I want the team to win, but as I said last time out I don't have time for much of the side as people, on top of that football fans tend to turn into morons when discussing the national side (not aimed at anyone, btw). A win is a win, I shall always maintain this.

Oh, RE the booing of Cashley. I dislike him as much as the next guy, he's a ****. deadset. HOWEVER, I am a firm believer that you do not boo your players in-game. If you go and watch England at Wembley then presumably you are an England fan. So don't boo the players, it's totally illogical.

Yeah, not in favour of the booing of players myself, just that it did give me a small measure of pleasure to see Cashley get some stick.

Re: Beckham, I'm definitely in favour of keeping him around as a good bench option. You can't lose pace if you've never had it, he's as fit as ever and as long as he can strike a dead ball he'll have a place in the squad. Plus, he's one of few players who can always be relied upon to give absolutely 100%.

Plus when he came on the team played immeasurably better and the crowd decided to ark up. Is worth him playing 20 minutes just for that reaction.

Yeah, mate of mine suggested Capello brought him on just to win the crowd back after the Cole incident, and I wouldn't be surprised if he was right.

Hopefully Capello realizes after tonight that Gerrard/Lampard can't play together, just do what spain does with Xavi/Fabregas & play them a half each or one for an hour, no point sacrificing Gerrard in a defensive role & let Lampard attack or visa versa. Since you are not going to get the best out of them. It again proves that Hargreaves really is England most important mid-fielder

Otherwise good win although the boys weren't as fluent as in Croatia. Loving Capello ATM, really feel he is on the verge of doing big things with this side.

Not sure how you come to that conclusion. Hardly Upson's fault the greedy little mobile phone abusing Judas played a square ball blind across his own goal.

Quite. I'd sooner play like jizz and win rather than look pretty and not (cf: Arsenal since 2004).
Not bitter at all, eh BB? :p

Entirely predictable England display, agree with Corrin re: the Booing, much as I despise Ashley Cole there really was no need for the crowd to jump on him like they did. The booing at halftime was also totally stupid.

I didn't even boo the whites at the end of our pitiful display yesterday. Did shout something alone the lines of, "you *****. I fell out with my missus to come and watch this ****!"

Definitely, in full agreement with this, I don't think the (supposed) fans were at all right to boo him, just commenting that I personally found it very funny.

Watched the first half of Stevenage vs. Mansfield.

Mansfield lacking speed up front itbt.
Missed out, second half was the one to watch.

We've got Mark Stallard (old) and Aaron o'Connor (average but a bit nippy, tries hard). Then we can bring Jason Lee on up front (old) or Anthony Robinson (average), shambles.

Main problem for us atm is Paddy Gamble in goal, you missed his shocker in the second half. Caught a free-kick but oh no! he's dropped it! it's gone in! then he had a go at the defence. Ffs you made the mistake ****.

Was baffled as to why their player was straight in with noone around him. Replays show Upson being ridiculously slow to react to it, wandering about. As for Rio, nowhere to be seen.

Really can't blame either centre-halves. Fully Ash's fault, just seemed to a mi**** a probable pass back to James.

Upson had a very nervy game though, then again he probably shouldn't have been in the squad in the first place. But no real worries about such selection just as yet i'd say.

BARNES OUT
Gamble was woeful in the first. Made a meal of the first cross of the game but got away with it. The Comm's were saying he hasn't kept a clean sheet in 9 games or something.

Yeah think that's about right. He's got decent shot stopping ability, but the rest of his game isn't up to much at the moment.
