Representatives from 72 clubs of Premier Division, First Division, 2nd Division and 3rd Division were present in the meeting held at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) conference room in the city.
BCB member and the immediate past CCDM chairman Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu was also present.
Talking to the reporters after the meeting, Engr Alamgir said: "CCDM is the platform of domestic cricket… we'll try to increase the volume of cricket and also try to develop the skill of our players day by day. We'll also organise more tournaments throughout the year."
Alamgir, who is also the chairman of the tournament committee, informed that the Premier League matches would now be on two-day basis with 90 overs played on each day.
Later, the top six teams (super six) will play four-day matches for the CCDM Cup. "We'll implement this in the Premier Division so that we can groom many longer version players," Alamgir said.
He said they would appeal to ICC to accord recognition to the next season's CCDM Cup as First Class tournament.
He also gave indication to increase the number of twenty20 matches in the Premier Division, while this shorter version cricket will also be introduced for the first time in the First Division.
The newly appointed CCDM chairman said they would increase annual donation to the clubs, which could be around Tk 1.0 million (10 lakh) for the topflight teams. "We'll also make some additional donations to the clubs to improve their ground facilities."
Asked if he has any plan to make the metropolis cricket more attractive and crowd pulling, he said: "We won't be able to bring people to the field by force. If we can deliver good cricket, can get some talented players and keep on trying, we can hope to see more supporters."
When his attention was drawn to the poor amount in the local tournament sponsorship, Alamgir, a veteran cricket organiser, said: "I have just begun my job. I can assure you of doing something positive to fulfil our minimum expectations (from sponsorships)."
Although the BCB election is knocking at the door, the CCDM chairman sounded positive about fulfilling all the initiatives he plans to take. "You have to keep things rotating… also have to take everything with a positive attitude."
So how is First Class Status given? Is it determined by the boards or the ICC?
