Well to be fair, the conditions this morning were pretty favorable to Bangers. Mortaza was sublime and they've batted well. Can't take it away from the team who wanted it more.

Well it willl teach them to show a bit of respect instead of talking crap about winning all 3 and becoming the 2nd ranked ODI team.

Oh yeah I agree, if they get home them, then congratulations to them. They certainly have some noteable scalps on the mantle piece, so it is not without precedent that they have not done it before.

They played proper cricket today and are being rewarded for it. All they need is another good seamer and their batting to play like this more often.

Yep, if they can transform it over to Tests, then they could go a long way to proving the doubters that they do justify Test status apart from being a crucial vote for the BCCI.

No but the usual "players x, y, z should be in for a, b, c", such-and-such (insert random young player) should be in, or where the team is going towards the future.

Hopefully, well we should be disappointed with a loss, I'm kind of excited about seeing a competitive Bangladesh.

This is an endless cycle GGG. We have to take all the crap from the English and Australian media that they're going to smash us everytime.

Then our media passes on the love to the Bangladeshis and Zimbabweans when we get the chance to play them.

In my experience, its always more fun when the media have to digest some of the **** they put out. This may convince me to track down some Millmow articles to critique.

Bangladesh haven't just flipped a switch and gone from being a joke to competitive overnight. Yes they played well, by their standards, but New Zealand have been just aweful. I'd be interested to know if this would be Bangladesh's biggest win against a test quality nation. The last 12 months have not been a good time to be a kiwi cricket fan, but this takes us to a new low.

It was also a bloody stupid call to drop Elliot for Flynn. The kind of situation that our top order dumped us in was made for Elliot's gritty accumulation.

Yeah well that's are rare sight for sure so we all better cherish this, because we might have to wait another long year or so to see the competitive side of the Bangers again.

I disagree, besides a few middle order wickets they earnt every wicket they got, through bowling superbly to the conditions. Mortaza was surreal. We batted averagely, and we bowled well but not exceptionally. Credit should go more to how they played than how badly we screwed up.

Gillespie shouldn't be in the team though. Shocker.

I think Bangladesh deserve a bit more credit than that, but I agree with your post on the whole.

This is pretty gutting really, as someone who gets extremely frustrated every time the team lose and the media reports are all "the Black Caps were their usual average selves, losing yet again" I look forward to every opportunity to prove them wrong, and that #2 ranking would have gone some way towards doing that. But instead I expect tomorrow will be worse than ever.

Might not look at the paper tomorrow, or watch the sports news.

Na, we'll be seeing more of this out of Razzak, Mortaza, Tamim and Siddique I think. Shakib and Ashraful can go either way IMO. They played the whole game at such a high level, even the first ten overs before they got a wicket.

I'm not so sure about that - while it may have been due to the pressure Mortaza was building I thought the shots Ryder, McCullum and Taylor played were all absolutely dreadful.

And I find it hard to believe they felt that much pressure to feel the need to play those shots, as runs were coming freely off the likes of Rasel and Shahadat at the other end.
