Nobody seems to be mentioning the fact that the preperation for the series was poor. Might this make them turn up a week earlier next time and get 3 or 4 warm up games in, just in case there's bad weather around?

I actually think they got there in reasonable time - but I guess you can't account for the weather washing out the entire practice match. I doubt it would've been a high priority for NZ Cricket to organise 3 or 4 warm-up games for a tour where they were meant to be by far the better side. At least that was the idea...

Haha, don't tell me they were wearing those horrible new kits.. Look the part, play the part IMO...

Bangladesh!

Awesome performance from the boys, completely deserved that. Really hoping they can build and take out the series. Was so impressed with Ashraful, and Mortaza early on.

If you could make a post stating that there's no way Aaron Heal could possibly make his debut in the Second Test against India, that'd be fantastic.

Your pal,
Nnanden.

Daniel Flynn still isnt ready for international cricket. Bring in Elliot as he is a guy made for a collapse. I agree that the loss could be a good thing because they now MUST win the next two games.

Well, congrats to Bangladesh. They were excellent and proved me wrong.

New Zealand definitely looked like they were rusty, and they didn't get the benefit of the toss. Ryder looks in good nick, and Taylor looked alright actualy, he just played a dumb shot. The rest of that top order needs to get some runs though and I don't want to start playing the whiny talkback blame game, but one season wonder Flynn still looks good but once again he's all show and no runs, and he has Fulton breathing down his neck.

Would have liked to have seen Patel and Elliott in the side, and hope to see them there on Saturday.

No taking this away from Bangladesh though, they played like a true top ODI side last night, which I'm sure Richard will diasgree with, but it doesn't matter who is playing the good cricket, its the good cricket that counts, and thats why Bangladesh can win games against top sides occassionally.

Media Making things worse I Suspect ... I'm looking at the Newsfeeds and I see 2nd String Bangladesh Defeat New Zealand.

What was 2nd String about this side? It Was Practically the same side that won the WC Warm Up. The only loss in from the ICL was Aftab and Nafees to some to extent.

The Bowling has improved leaps and bounds since the Asia Cup

The Highlights are up in the Sky Sports New Zealand Website if anyone wants to see

Edit: Chris Cains & Lou Vincent Smashed the Dhaka Warriors :D

Elliott should have never been left out. Gillespie to date has been a pretty crap ODI bowler, especially to left-handers where he bowls legside way too much. Southee also looked like he was lacking rhythm, also if he's in the side i'd say he's best off taking the new ball with Mills

For the best part of a decade, New Zealand has always been crap in the first game of an ODI series, esp. after a long lay-off.

When was the last time we actually won the first game of an ODI series (2 team series)?

It feels that way but we've actually done alright in the first game of the series recently to be honest - against England and Bangladesh earlier this year/December 2007 for starters.

Edit: Just reading your signature Craig, the quote from "sideshowtim" has some irony about now.

Am I the only one who isn't overly bothered about us losing to the Banga's? Atleast the Aussies can't say anything cos they've lost to them too!

But in all honestly, we did play average, once again a middle order colapse and ****house fielding *sigh* but I believe if we won the toss we would have won the game. The Banga's did play good, but it didn't help that the warm up game was washed out.

I don't believe they were complacent like media are saying. Half the team hadn't even been to Bangladesh before so I don't see how they could be over confident.

Ahwell.. aslong as we carve them up today and monday then I'll be happy. I'm just a tad annoyed we can't get to number 2 now.
