Goldust's last return was pretty disappointing for mine. Can only be downhill from him I reckon. That said I'll always remember him for his "feud" with Booker and his hilarious creep out segments with Austin,Kane and Rocky.

If any of the three were to come back I'd love more Piper. A Piper's pit with Jericho or Edge would be so so good.

I posted a few of those earlier in this thread. How good were those days? Wish we can see another time when even mid carders are as over as Goldie was.

Smackdown thoughts:

Kozlov backing down after being threatened by Big Show isn't a logical way to go after the way he's been cleaning out HHH for the last few weeks.

MVP losing once again is not pleasing to see.

Khali doing kiss cam sounds hilarious.

Nice to see the show end with Jeff Hardy managing to hit the twist of fate on HHH and walk out dominant.

Is anyone but me excited about the new Sd vs R game?

I found out on you tube today, you can create your own finishing move when creating a wrestler. I think I would mine as a Canadian destroyer.

The graphics seem good aswell.

If it's enough of advance on the previous installments of the SD v RAW series then I would consider getting it, but I doubt that will happen until they stop developing it for the PS2 as well as the next gen consoles available.

Generally the problem I find with the more recent SD v RAW games is that they very quickly get repetitive and I just can't be bothered with them anymore. They just don't seem to have the replay value of older titles like No Mercy for the N64.

Will wait and see the reviews...but at this stage I would have to say I doubt i'll bother with it.

I found this.

Speaking of wrestling games, mb how was that TNA game?
Was hoping you wouldn't ask! While I was pumped at playing the very first TNA game, the game itself is as raw, rushed and lacking depth as any wrestling game I've played. The gameplay and controls aren't as good as the Smackdown vs Raw series, there is a limited roster and most people outside of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and Christopher Daniels move and act the same barring their signature moves.

The story mode while entertaining was extremely linear and I beat the whole thing only in a couple of sessions I haven't wanted to play the story mode again because essentially it's the same thing. There is no steel cage matches and no King of the Mountain.

The only saving grace is that two player/multiplayer is quite a bit of fun. Playing against mates is great, but everything else falls below par.

I own Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain and Smackdown vs Raw 2006 and the amount of depth and gameplay options that are in those games is amazing. TNA Impact in comparison was a real let down.

However I am really looking forward to WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2009. The story mode seems really, really good this year and they have this new feature called 'Career Mode' which basically means you play a career in the WWE working your way from the bottom right to the top. Also the roster seems pretty good and there's some neat additions such as the Inferno Match.

Considering the last WWE game I bought was in 2006, it might be worth getting this one.

I think that would be a wise move. In fact if you want to get a wrestling game this year, Smackdown vs Raw 2009 looks pretty solid this year.
Mate I live with has an Xbox 360, debating whether to go halves on him to get it on that, or just buy it for my PS2 so I can play it when he's not around.

Can't help but feel Kozlov lost a lot of momentum this week. And Khali's kiss cam went from mildy humorous to downirght wrong this week. There are better ways to make this face turn happen.

Why go halves on it? The PS2 version has exactly the same features that the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions have. Sure the graphics won't be as great but Smackdown vs Raw games on the PS2 have always been visually stunning.

Didn't bother with Smackdown this week as the cricket was on. Will probably catch the replay on Sunday.

I think that's the main issue. People with "next-gen" consoles have no incentive to buy games because the functionality is basically the same as that of the PS2. Almost regretting my decision to get a 360 now, as every game I want/have now I could've gotten on my PS2. I really hope they start making more games specifically for Next-gen consoles otherwise I'd have wasted a solid $500 on my 360.

Not to mention the PS2 versions of games are a lot cheaper out here. For example, TNA Impact for Xbox 360/PS3 is close to $80 where as the PS2 versions only cost around $40. Same for FIFA 09, $40 on the PS2, $80 on the PS3.

Smackdown vs Raw has always been great on the PS2 and will sell for around $40 - $50 as compared to the PS3 version which I saw was advertised as around $80 - $90.
