Yeah that's always been an interesting one. When I first saw Afridi bowl, in the Second ODI against England in 2000/01, I was astonished that he could bowl at 80mph (130kph) off such a short run. I wondered why he never tried bowling proper seam-up.

I've heard talk on and off down the years about the legality of his action when bowling that particular quick ball. It wouldn't especially surprise me if it was illegal and whenever I've watched it (which has been, invariably, at full-speed from behind the bowler only - a very very poor way to judge the legality of an action) it hasn't exactly looked ideal. But it seems no-one has ever actually carried-out any tests. So presumably that means it's never actually even been reported.

It sure is an impressively - astonishingly - quick quicker ball for a spinner. It's never struck me that his action might be illegal though. I may be wrong about this, but I'm not sure he bowls it as much as he used to.
