***Official*** Australia A and New Zealand A in India

I reckon Broom is good value..could be good enough to represent NZ in OD cricket. Every time he's played for the A side he seems to make runs.

Aggressive running by the batsmen results in Broom getting run-out. A very accurate throw by Raina followed by a quick conversion by Karthik has him out. That was followed by a direct hit by Irfan, but to no effect.

Chawla is looking totally out of sorts here.

Which channel is showing the game?

Absolute rubbish batting by NZ. 3 runouts of batsmen, and 2 of them came just as a good partnership was developing. Really really dumb.

I also don't understand why Boult isnt playing...he is the only real swing bowler we have in the whole squad (other than Scott perhaps) and is yet to play a game in swinging conditions.

Surely Boult & Hay will play next match. It's tough to rotate the squad and give everyone a fair chance given there are only four "ODI's". Boult hasn't been picked for the "Tests" so hopefully he will play the last two "ODI's", also I hope they give Hay a go for Marshall in the next match as someone suggested earlier..

Gillespie has started where he left off in the last game...

2 wickets in 1.3 overs so far for him...while Mason gets bashed at the other end by Uthappa.

Asnodkar and Raina gone now, Asnodkar bowled playing no shot and Raina caught at point by Guptill. Guptill is an awesome fielder...not surprised he is taking blinders.

3.3 Gillespie to Raina, OUT, stunning catch by the point fielder Guptill. That was a short ball, the batsman stroked it well on the off side and was would have expected it to get past point on the way to the boundary. It was not to be. India in trouble.
SK Raina c Guptill b Gillespie 4 (4b 1x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

I think its a bit silly that Trent Boult was selected for this tour at all, given that he still hasn't played a list A match in the State Shield. The youngsters shouldn't be expected to run before they can walk.

Fair comment that

Another one, Mason this time -34/3 - NZ still 30-40 runs short for mine. The 3 runouts the most costly factor

Btw why is Tim Southee not a part of this New Zealand A side, imo guys like Southee, Flynn, Ryder, Sinclair and How all should have been the part of this squad, the more exposure they get the better it is for them.

Southee, Flynn and Ryder are all part of the senior New Zealand squad that tours Bangladesh next month, and will all likely play. How is completely established as one of New Zealand's openers, why would you include him in an A team?

Sinclair I think had his last chance at representing any New Zealand team in NZ's home series against Bangladesh and England last summer.

The players picked were the right players for mine..a nice mix of fringe internationals (Gillespie, Patel, Elliott, Fulton) and youngsters who will likely play international cricket in the future (Broom, Boult, Guptill, Watling).

To close to the Bangladesh tour I would think.

I disagree.

He got picked on the back of very good performances in the Emerging Players Tournament and U19 World Cup.

Other than Franklin, he is probably the only left arm seamer in New Zealand with any chance of playing for New Zealand in the next few years..he also swings it and from what I hear has the potential to bowl 140k's+. Not too many talents like that in NZ...why shouldnt A tours be used to blood a few youngsters?

Hmm, I want to see us bowl India A out and win this but I also want to see Badrinath get some runs.

India is not a million miles away from Bangladesh, is it, so they could have played as many games as possible and then they could have left for Bangladesh, and for all these inexperienced blokes like Southee, Flynn and Ryder could have gained some vital experience from playing in Indian conditions against pretty competitve sides.
