Like to see an example of a Ghana match for which this was true that didn't take place at the world cup please.

Earlier this year, caught one the ACN games of BBC where Ghana played Ivory Coast (semi-final or 3rd place game can't remember) believe Ghana won 3-2 or something & Essein was immence in the role as mid-field enforcer that he has hardly played at Chelsea since arriving from Lyon. So i have no doubts..

First statement: I was talking about Ferdinand's passing, not Carrick's. If you'd even bothered to look at what I quoted, you'd realize that. One would also think the fact that I had said "defender" would make it clear, but it seems Carrick's so awesome he can also play defence now.

Second statement: I've realized that sarcasm isn't very handy over the internet. I was poking fun at the fact that Butt was on the stats list way more Carrick, and drew a conclusion that everyone over at our friendly CC section would make.

Did you watch the game?. Of course not. He was without Appiah who was injured, the man who does most of the tackling, thus Muntari was drafted into the centre, so he basically had to cover two roles & his passing game was remained excellent. Can't see why this is debate.

I have no doubt that he is a "midfield enforcer", and tbh he reguarly performs this role for Chelsea.

Not alot compared to his time & Lyon or when he plays for Ghana given Makelele's presence. Another victim of versatility.

Me seeing the game does not change anything, my original comment solely regarded his passing ability, which again you seemed to have passed over and made a fleeting remark with no evidence etc.. to back it up.

I think the fact that he is generally acknowledged as being one of Chelsea's most solid performers over the last three years suggests the fact that he is hardly a victim of versatility. Just because he has played centre back and right back on a few occasions shows that he is versatile certainly, but he is hardly a victim of it.

Just because he has played centre back and right back on a few occasions shows that he is versatile certainly, but he is hardly a victim of it.

Victim in the sense that he is willing to play anywhere the coach puts him & has proven he can do a very commendable job, although sacrificing his best position for the majority of his Chelsea career.

Victim in the sense that he is willing to play anywhere the coach puts him & has proven he can do a very commendable job, although sacrificing his best position for the majority of his Chelsea career.

Gee, he really did take one for the team there, dunno how I would cope if I had to play in a different position, demand another £20k to go on top of my £60k salary probably.
