Symonds sent home

... It isn't? Source?
I read that too in the articles after Brett Lee split up with his wife, that Lee and Clarke 'weren't the best of friends' I think it was. It did basically look like total speculation and paper twaddle.

I do believe it's socially acceptable to say "Bhaji called him a monkey". If we started replacing it with "the m word" trips to the zoo could soon become might confusing.
Apparently iirc, Harbhajan agreed that he called Symonds a mother****** in his native tounge and not a monkey and Symonds mistook it for Harbhajan calling him a monkey.

If we go by newspaper articles, the next thing we might get to read would be, that Liz was having an affair with Clarke.8-)

Oh, and I thought that Symonds was the Brisbane rugby player. 8-)

Like I said... I'm sure it was paper twaddle.

Wasn't the WI series after the IPL full-stop, rather than just the bidding?
Most definitely was. This stuff that Symonds took his foot of the pedal because he was earning squillions for IPL isn't borne out by the facts; he played some of his best Test knocks in the WI. Didn't really go on with it in the ODI series but still.

I wasn't having a dig at you, it was more about the falling standards of journalism, i guess rolleyes always seem to cause misunderstandings.

And yet, by the same measure, people are willing to convict Symonds on the basis of newspaper articles and CA public relations spin without so much as hearing him utter one syllable

Hypocrisy much?

Pardon me, but Symonds is the person who has allowed it to get out of hand. FFS, when will you accept that maybe, just maybe, the journos, Ponting, Clarke, Hussey, Neilsen and CA know a little bit more than you do, sitting in front of your keyboard, about the situation? This 33 YEAR OLD has had several chances, and now he thinks he's a victim.... in which case he does need some heavy duty counselling.
So CA and the Australian team hierarchy are not to blame in any way, shape of form?

I wish I got off that easy when one of my staff stuffed up.

Not much care and zero responsibility - managerial heaven

In the case of Symonds, it is statements coming directly from Clarke and Nielsen in sport articles.

In the case of Lee it is speculation in a gossip article.

Was still top notch in the one dayers. After missing the first two matches with a back injury he then made 8*, 87 and and 66.

Mate seriously what are trying to put through in this case, Symonds deserved this punishment and if Clarke and Ponting are criticising his behaviour, then its pretty clear that he needs to sort some things out, whether that means visiting a phyciatrist i don't know about that, that's a call that needs to be made by Symonds himself, to Symonds' credit he hasn't repeated any of his previous mistakes, but somehow he finds ways to get himself into trouble, that's something that he needs to put an end to.

The talks that Symonds got blinded and distracted by all his IPL riches and hence stopped bringing his "A" game when playing for Australia is as ridiculous as the articles that have been all over bashing him.

Yeah you're right, was thinking of home ODI series for some reason.

I agree, the guy is bad news. Several journalists, within the last 12 months, have written about the real Andrew Symonds. He just appears to me to be a nasty, unsavoury person. I don't think you need a 33 year old senior player like this around the squad, particularly with all the new faces in the Australian team. It would be for the best if this serial offender had his contract torn up. No doubt he's emboldened by the fact that he has a lucrative IPL contract to fall back on.

The Queenslander, who these days carries himself with such an arrogant swagger that even his team-mates sometimes shake their heads, has become too big for his boots.

Symonds treats just about everyone with disdain - rival players, journalists, his employers and even some of his team-mates.

I don't think much of Symonds as a person (he's always struck me as an idiot, TBH), but Ben Dorries is one of the worst cricket journalists going around (along with Robert Craddock), so I'm not inclined to take that article all that seriously. Stuart MacGill once hilariously stated that Ben Dorries must've been drunk while writing his articles (or something like that), judging by the standard of them, when Dorries had a go at him.

Absolutely.

Its ridiculous to try and find the reasons of the 'WHY' he did it. Its completely without any sound basis and smacks somewhat of jealousy and worse. Its when media starts showing their 'punditry' in their analysis that they need to be careful what they say.

It's pretty simple

The only people that we've heard from to date are people with a vested interest in sticking the boot in.

Some of the journos love having the opportunity of knifing somebody that they perceive as being arrogant.

The people around the team, unless it really is a tin-pot operation, will have been briefed by CA (and they in turn by lawyers and pr people) as to what they should and should not say.

Why?

Because the suspension of a highly paid employee is the stuff lawyers dream about.

So excuse me for being a cold-hearted cynic, but I dont believe all is as it appears

In any event, serious questions have to be asked of the so-called leadership group.

They knew Symonds was going on a fishing trip

They knew his history

Unless this has been a total knee-jerk reaction, they knew he was skating on thin ice

In those circumstances, I would expect my managers to be proactive in their attempts to see that rules were adhered to.

If they tried and were ignored, so be it

However, if they simply handed him a loaded gun and allowed him to shoot himself, then they are as guilty as he is and heads should roll

Now you are suggesting someone in CA or leadership group gave Andrew a fishing rod and some bait, and off he went. So, it's the person who gave the fishing rod is guilty and poor innocent lamb Andrew, gee all of 33, should'nt get flak.

LMAO.

But you would, in case of a lesser player, wouldn't you ? And you definately would in case of the likes of Bhajji, Akhtar, Asif or for that matter any other Asian player.
