***Official*** India in Sri Lanka

54 runs in 6 overs. Thusara batting well here. SL need just one really BIG over here.
and if Thusara gets out trying to hit a few more, you will have jinxed him and India would have won because of you .... thank you very much

though wondering, why India didn't win the test series despite your ability to jinz

India wraps the series up .... congrats to the team for winning a bilateral series for the first time in SL. I guess, it adds up well to India's CT, Singer Cup and any other wins in SL before

in the series so far, Dhoni led from the front, Raina played well, Badri pulled off a win in the 2nd ODI and the bowlers have been remarkable. can't ask for more .... with the likes of Sehwag, Tendulkar and Ishant available for selection the team will get stronger

i am a big advocator of playing a well balanced side as I believe in having the ability to attack both with the bat and the ball with proper resources. would like to see India field a well-balanced side in the next game

my recommendation for the line-up

- Kohli
- Gambhir [due for a good score]
- Badri [would want to finish off the series in style in the way he started]
- Raina
- Dhoni
- Rohit / Yuvi [would want to get a 50 in the series]
- Pathan
- Praveen
- Bhajji
- Zaheer
- Munaf

Great stuff from Dhoni and Co, and another success for India during his leadership, India are deserved winners of this series, and Sri lanka have some serious sorting out as far their batting is concerned.

Thought to myself when I saw on Sky Sports News that Dhoni had scored 71 that anytime India do well, he's always pivotal.

So I had a wee look at Statsguru. Averages 77.22 in matches won, and averages 108.81 in successful run chases (albeit with 17 not outs from 28 innings - although such a high number of not outs proves this further.)

An awesome performer.

A nice consolation prize for India after losing the test series. They looked a beaten side after their thumping in the first ODI and it's been a pretty remarkable turn-around to win the next three quite comfortably. From SL's perspective they have quite a few problems. I think Murali needs to retire from ODI's and focus on extending his test career.

With a dead rubber I think it's a good opportunity to give Ojha another try. Perhaps Parthiv as a specialist bat as well. BTW looking at the squad on Cricinfo it's pretty remarkable that they are all under 30 after Sachin's withdrawl. I wonder if that's a first for an Indian squad.

Also Cheers to Kohli and Selectors for picking him, the amount of Flak that boy and the selectors got for picking him over Badri was kind of undeserving. Afterall he outperformed Badri by quite a fair margin.
Kohli has made the most of his opportunity but that doesn't mean he was the most deserving of this opportunity. Good on him though.

Deserving is one who makes the best of the given opportunites. Badrinath has been outperformed by Kohli and that means the selectors were right in picking Kohli over Badrinath.

Sri Lanka's batting is at its lowest ebb that I have seen for some time, perhaps since the late 1980s.

They have three good batsmen, yes, but of those three, Jayasuriya is getting older is very hit and miss, Sanga is a slow scorer, and Jayawardene only averages 33. Hardly enough to intimidate a bowling attack.

But what is scary is that they have basically nothing else to offer after these three are out. Who can hit sixes and fours in the death overs? No other team in the top 8 has this problem, apart from the West Indies, perhaps.

Vass batting at no.7 is just a joke.

The other night I turned on the tv to watch the latest game in this series. Sat there for 45 minutes before I realised I was watching the previous game owing to rain.

I'm thinking "Jeez, that's two really bad collapses for SL in a row", then they cut to the commentary box to tell us it was still raining!!

Dunno if it says more about my being crook or the endless number of ODIs played these days.

Of course, third option is I'm an idiot. That could be it too.

India should not go overboard in this win. It's jus that Dhoni's been doing a one man job in batting, though aided a bit by raina and virat. Yuvi has had a bad year so far averaging sub 30 in about 30 matches.

As for Sri Lanka, they really ought to do some thinking on their batting. Cannot leave to Mendis to do everything. And I think the time has come to take a call on Murali's presence in the ODI side.

All of the above one feels :p
Knew it was coming..... :)

Actually, one of the games in this series is coinciding witht he England-SA game, and Foxtel is doing a viewer's choice with the cricket for the first time.

Who says these ODIs are meaningless after all?

Badrinath has scored 39 runs in his 3 innings of which 27 came in that debut innings which had all of us, myself included, raving for his maturity. One is willing to overlook his lack of runs though its going to be difficult to retain his place unless he does something about it soon.

I am more worried about how unlikely he has looked to hit a boundary in any of these three games. He has faced 87 deliveries and hit a solitary boundary - a pull off a very short ball towards the end of that partnership with Dhoni in the second odi. His drives have never been more than mere pushes. I hope we will see some more power in his strokes soon.

Whatever it takes!!!
Can I jump the Gun and predict a series Victory for Dhoni and his boys. :)

yeah, fair play to the kid but dont still think his selection over Badri was justified at all.

Agree.

However, the context of the first match required him to play with minimal risk and hence no fault i would say.

I think that Badri is better suited to a Dravidian No.3 than No.6 because he's no accelerator. He can punch the ball into gaps and play common sense cricket at that position. He, like any technically good bat, need to manufacture slog and needs to spend time at crease to get going. Swap places with out of form Yuvi i'd say.

And do get him in for the tests. Give Dravid a good scare.

Yuvraj has now scored 23, 20, 12 and 0 in consecutive innings in this series. Poor show by India's senior most batsman in this series.

PS : wasn't he supposed to be dropped if he didn't score three consecutive hundreds or something like that ??
