It's crazy isn't it? I only found out the other day, was just reading something about him the other day, which said something about him being an NFL player "30 years ago"...assumed it must have been a typo, so looked it up, and was very surprised to see it was accurate.

I don't see where all the "burying" talk is coming from. The champ doesn't need to be pinned, so it's not like HHH is going to lose any credibility by letting someone else become "temporary" champ for a while.

If anything, it'd be ridiculously funny to see someone steal a win early on, walk away, and only run-in when someone is about to get a pin and break it up. And do it multiple times! Watching Kendrick do it would put me on top of the world.

Yeah, really quite bizarre finding that out, obviously the guy takes very good care of himself.

Anyway, back to my list of Must-See Matches. I would say the certainties at this point are:

1. Undertaker vs Mankind, Hell In A Cell, King of the Ring 1998

2. Kurt Angle vs Shawn Michaels, WrestleMania 21

3. The Rock vs 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, WrestleMania X-Seven

4. TLC II, WrestleMania X-Seven

5. Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels, WWF Championship, Survivor Series 1997

The rest of the list is open, I'd say. Got a good mix of big names already, with two gimmicky spotfests, one technical classic, and two of the most important moments in the industry's history.

Can anyone suggest a straight-up, two-on-two, no-gimmicks tag match to potentially make the list? I thought about Benoit & Jericho vs Two-Man Power Trip (HHH and Austin) from 2002, but that was kinda ruined by HHH getting injured and the ending being botched.

It's not burying Triple H that needs to be worried about, it's burying the rest of the guys. All of them are going to be pushed hard over the next couple of years or so, and we don't want to be saying about one guy "former WWE Champion *insert name*, who only held the title for 13 minutes...". Think about Kane's one-day title reign, and what it did for him. Every time it's mentioned that Kane's a former WWE Champion, everyone who knows about it's immediate thought is "oh, but it was only for one day".

Is there any other way to whip up this compilation apart from Youtube? The quality, quite frankly, would be horrible.

EDIT: I found some resources. I believe I could do this one night, to be honest. Though my upload speed sucks. It'd take absolute ages to upload.

Also, I don't think I'd call Angle v HBK a 'technical classic'. It was an amazingly well worked match, sure, but it doesn't fit that description.

They're not really holding the title though. Only the winner at the end gets crowned the champion.

Yeah, fair enough about Angle vs HBK. I just couldn't think of another succinct way to put it over, besides "awesome".

I dunno about other ways to do it, I think the only other one would be to download torrents () of the PPVs containing the matches, but some of them would be equally poor and harder to find. I have 'Taker-Mankind already and the quality is decent enough, and I actually have all the rest of the first five too, except for Montreal. Another downside is that I might need to find a better media program than Windows Movie Maker, it doesn't let me use certain filetypes.

EDIT 1: I'm intrigued by your "resources", we must find an off-forum way to discuss this when I've got a bit more time on my hands. Off to the gym soon.

EDIT 2: Ah, I thought it was a WrestleMania XXVI Hardcore Battle Royal type deal, where the guy gets to actually lift the belt, and then someone comes in and takes him out, pins him and then gets the belt himself. Forget everything I said then, if the title reigns during the match aren't going to actually count then it'll make it a lot better.

But to give guys like Shelton Benjamin, MVP and Brian Kendrick the opportunity to even compete at a Main Event level is what us Internet Fans dream about. Finally WWE are giving us Internet fans what we want and we're still complaining.

Lets look at it this way:

1. CM Punk is the World Heavyweight Champion
2. John Cena and Dave Batista have been out of the Main Event for a while
3. Edge has been an absolute superstar and has been used fantastically well
4. Chris Jericho is getting a push!
5. Brian Kendrick, Shelton Benjamin and MVP are in the Main Event of a PPV!
6. ROH and NOAH Champion (and Internet fan favourite) Takeshi Morishima is very close to signing a WWE contract

All these pointers indicate one thing. WWE is starting to take it's Internet fan base more seriously. With the Internet fan base growing in stature rapidly, this to me anyway is a clear cut case of WWE acknowledging the smart fans and giving us a more wrestling oriented product.

Haha, I'm pretty experienced at using Sony Vegas. Even then, I don't have to do very much apart from putting the matches together. You suppose I could hijack this project from you?

Oh dear. Oh no...I've become one of those internet smarks who bitches about guys not getting pushed all the time. I now hate myself.

I'm deliriously happy that the other guys in the match are all guys who've never been champ, I think it'll be great, I was just worried it'd cause more harm than good. I think WWE this year have been a million times better than last year, things are really looking good at the moment. 2009 could be a great year.

Course you could, as long as I end up getting hold of a finished copy sometime in the next eight months.

Would be great to have someone who knows what they're doing take care of it, TBH, I'm a bit of a rookie when it comes to stuff like that. Mine would have had the production values of...well...something with no production values. Cheers mate. :)

I could whip this up in the next one week, even if I'm lazy and have no motivation. Provided, of course, we decide all the matches that are to be in it, and I lay my hands on them.

There's not much to do, really. Cut out the matches from the original PPV, and put them together, with some Slides in between. I could add some stupid joke subtitles to it as well.

Oldies but goldies:

The Rockers vs The Hart Foundation - SNME April 28 1990

Just class, the company's two brightest stars going at it head to head for the first of many memorable encounters. Fantastic clash of styles, just watching the match at the time the people watching must've known they were witnessing something special. These would be the two guys who would carry the carry through scandal after scandal during the 90's.

The Hart Foundation vs The British Bulldogs - MSG July 13 1985

Another quality match made before I was even born but just screams out old school wrestling. Seeing Davey wrestle during his early days and it's incredible to see how smooth he was, one of the most natural workers to ever grace a ring. He's the one who carried this fantastic precursor to the match he would go on to have against Bret at Wembley which sent 100 000 people rabid.

I'd agree with this too. My only issues with Unforgiven are that putting any up and comers in a program with Triple worries me greatly. I also find that having a match where holding a title can change hands multiple times mid way and a match without a conclusive ending other than a time limit tends to devalue the value of holding the belt(which is meant to be the pinnacle of a wrestler's existence) and has the potential to produce an entirely unsatisfying finish.

They're not holding the belt, ffs.

That'd be awesome. I'll have a think about a complete match list once I've consulted one or two mates, and I'll keep you posted. Cheers. :)

Oh, and if you do do joke subtitles, no smarky comments that only I'm gonna understand. This package is for casual fans, so kayfabe FTW! :p

Surprising news that Gail Kim has left TNA and has signed a deal with WWE. This is terrific news for WWE's Women's Division as Kim is one of the best Women's wrestlers in the world. She'll also be fantastic in helping train the likes of Kelly Kelly and Maryse.

But she's a golden girl type of wrestler like Trish Stratus and here's hoping she gets the push she deserves.

Apparently Gail was quite happy with TNA and Creative and everything else it's just that WWE made her an offer she couldn't refuse and I think gave her a huge money deal to jump ship.

Watched RAW last night, and despite Punk losing I thought it was quite a decent show all in all. Cena actually seems to be really over at the moment, couldn't believe how much of a pop he got. Enjoyed the Kane segment quite a bit as well, nice to see him look dominant over Batista.

Also Lol @ Kofi's "jamaican" accent whilst doing commentary.

Read somewhere that WWE is going to aggresively make inroads in newer markets overseas and therefore want as much "flavour" to their roster as possible before they make it happen. It's already a big thing in Europe, India and South Africa but they want a bigger slice of the Latin American and Oriental pie, with tours and events planned for places like Korea, Brazil etc.
