Battle of the Australians - Mk II

Very tough call. One can make a pretty solid case for Chappell as Australia's second best bat and is certainly AT XI material at the outside. Against that tho Lindwall is probably only behind DKL & McGrath as Aussie right-arm seam-up bowlers go and was a decent enough batsman to score two test tons. Played league for St George too, if a tie-break is needed.

Chappell for his chalk, Lindwall for his cheese, and Harvey for his ability to make a meaningful comparison between Lindwall and Chappell

Chappell, though the others are both really, really fine players.

As great as Lindwall was, I can contemplate and Aussie XI without him. Likewise Hayden. I can't, however, contemplate an Australian all time side being picked without GC in it.

Wow, what a round. Unfortunately for Davidson and McGrath, I have to vote for Lillee.

A bowler who started off as a tearaway and honed his art in the 2nd half of his career to continue taking lots of wickets. Someone who managed to bowl successfully in tandem and by himself. Someone who could bowl anything. Someone of which the best call the best. The complete fast bowler.

Couldn't really imagine an all-time Aussie XI without McGrath or DKL, but I'm going with Davidson all the same.

Why? Well, simply because If I were selecting a team he'd be the player I picked first of the three; his bowling isn't embarrassed by the comparison & his batting is a few levels above.
