**Official** 'My Current World XI' Thread

Well - all right then, not this minute, but I'll do it someday, I promise. It'll be one of those things like reading the *Official* Ashes 2005 Thread - a job to bookmark and do bit by bit.

This is one case where the Search Feature will be of zero help. It'll be a look-through-every-single-page jobby.
I've done a quick job myself. Let me know if you find any others that should be merged with this one. I deliberately left out the ones that had a different theme (like picking one player from each country etc) and the ones that were about the SuperSeries.

I'm sure there'll be many. Every time I find one I'll let you know. :p

BTW, I think you want an extra "i" in t'thread-title.

waste of time - done to death.
 This post is from a month after I joined, and hints at the fact that ALREADY (4-and-a-half years ago as of THIS post and just 2 years after the forum was started) the topic is an incredibly tired one.

That was so enjoyable. Got paid to do it as well. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck as Pietersen got into the 90s. Was also the first time I ever remember reading any of BLE's posts.

You can guarandamntee he'll be back full-time next summer. Reckon he could go through a good 20 accounts.

lucky this thread came along. i've been having withdrawal from the complete lack of world XI threads going around atm...
These sorts of comments really aren't rare are they? :p

Actually though, a continual-evolving thread will be fascinating - as we'll be able to look back through which players were chosen in 2003, in 2006, etc.

An interesting thread I found while merging all these ones was called "The World XI in 2008", created back in 2006. I didn't merge it as it was a bit different to the stock-standard ones, but it might be worth a dig given we're halfway through 2008 now. The calls of Ashraful and Akmal (by more than one person) were ITSTL.

And thinking about it I'm also very tempted to search for threads of this nature now that Gelman's done that job on the title, and see if I can persuade someone to merge them. There'll inevitably be a thousand Greigies in there because of the number of times people incorrectly started talking about "the downfall of Australia", but it'd emphasise the point of how long it'd been talked about for.

ODI XI from only current players (not on the basis of form) -

M. Hayden
S. Tendulkar
R. Ponting
M. Yousuf
M. Hussey
A. Symonds
M. Dhoni
D. Vettori (or C. Vaas depending on the pitch)
B. Lee
N. Bracken
M. Muralitharan

Not a bad side, though Gilly is retired. I would like to see Bracken bowl his own style in a test match, not wide out side off.

Would probably swap Haddin for McCullum, but otherwise 100% agree here.

KP as 12th as well.

So do any more people think Flintoff is looking like reclaiming his place as one of the world's premier quicks?

A well balanced side in my opinion, I nearly put Mendis in for Murali, but he hasn't got the experience as of yet.
