From the people I spoke to, my Dad & some mates from my boozer, (these are proper Liverpool fans, not the sort who play pool while Liverpool are on TV V Fulham) Bellamy did okay. Certainly I think he would have stayed if he hadn't been so much trouble, but it was naive to think that the little Welsh **** would be anything but trouble

Which would be an even worse move IMO, Gerrard IMO is far more effective in the centre, be that in a more advanced position or a more defensive midfield one.
To an extent I think it's more about Liverpool's lack of options out wide Pennant etc.

I don't think Gerard is as good in a conventional central midfield role as he is made out to be TBH. Gets headless chicken syndrome sometimes and lacks discpline. No doubt his perormances improved considerabley last season when he had the two holding midfielders to protect him.

I think Gerard playing wide & Keane through the middle would be better than the other way around.

Well, yes, Keane is no winger at all, but Gerrard out wide is not the best solution IMO. If 4-2-3-1 is to be used, I think Gerrard has to play centrally in the 3, and a new winger should be bought IMO. If that were to be the case, that leaves no room for Keane.

With Liverpool's squad as it is now, the line-up you suggested is IMO the correct one, but the better solution, IMO, would have been not to sign Keane, as they already have Gerrard there, but to sign a right winger instead.

To me it will be another year of nothingness for Liverpool, best chance of success is in the cups IMO.

Certainly I don't think there is anything to suggest Liverpool will get any closer. They will probably start slowly, be the best side for about 15 games, close the gap on whoever is top then lose a big game (Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal) and plateau there way to 4th

Top Scorer - Torres
Player Of the year - Vidic

Biggest let down - Adebayor

1st Manager Sacked - Kevin Keegan
To continue this:

Top scorer - If United sign him, Berbatov. If not, Torres.
Player of the year - Sagna (though he will not be recognized as such, due to playing right-back)

Biggest let down - Bosingwa
First manager sacked - Tony Mowbray

Said United for the Prem, really because I can't call how the Renties will fare under Scolari. Not only will he bring a fresh approach, but I can't figure out the signings. I'm not a fan of Bosingwa, think he'll be a liability, but the plus side is that Essien will be able to move back to midfield, where he is IMO awesome. And then there's Deco who has obvious talent, but it remains to be seen whether a change of clubs will revitalize his career.

As for the CL, said United out of bias, we have as good a chance as any, there is about five or six teams with as good a chance as us though IMO.

Think Having Agger back will make a difference but yeah still a fair way off Utd. Will be f"@ked if anything happens to Torres.

Yeah, defo agree that he'd be the most logical candidate seems as this will be his third season, he is as safe as a top six English batsman though. He'd have to sleep with a Darlington prostitute to get the sack

Safest job in football, Middlesboro. Southgate may start poorly, because he's an unproven non-entity who should of never been giving the job, but Gibson will keep the faith and throw money at the side.

I often wonder what could be achieved there if he got a semi-decent manager in, but I guess we'll never know.

Edit: what they said really....

To be fair, it is good to see a manager given a chance in this day and age. But you can't help but feel that you can go too far the other way, especially in the Premiership. In the Coca-Cola you can probably afford to blood a new manager but with the pressures of the Premiership, success is needed rather quicker.

Well, I'm a big believer that a manager should start lower down. Ferguson, Shankly, Busby, Clough, even Wenger, I think, all started in lower leagues. I have much more hope in Ince then Southgate as a young English manager, because he's served an apprenticeship. Wouldn't trust either with a ****ing penalty, though.

Ince seems good, loses points for me for not spending more than a year at a club yet though. Also, think Blackburn will be bottom-half this season.

Wenger didn't, got Nancy relegated from Ligue 1 in 1987 and was sacked.
Fair enough, leave him out then, maybe if he'd spent time at the bottom he'd of won summat in the last few years.

He spent time in Japan though, where he was out-managed by Steve Perryman, who's a bit of a demi-god who has flicked rude signs at me, and mouthed obscenities at me too, gawd bless him.
