I wouldn't be joking, of course the average is inflated, but if England insist on playing him (which is the absolutely wrong move!!!) then he should go six in the current side, imo.
Actually his average isn't too inflated as now that he's 41*, he's scored 326 runs in his last 8 innings which is 40.75 runs per innings without using his not outs to improve the average :-O

I think it's a misconception that not outs somehow artificially inflate the average anyway. Rather the opposite. It's harder to get 25 and 25no than it is to score 50, because you have to negotiate the starts of two innings rather than one.

Dont wanna put the mockers on him, but Pattinson looks more able than Monty with the blade. Due a promotion if retained.

Broad to play as a batting all-rounder in a coupla years.

Broad secures his place in the England side again. ;) It's possible he might be selected in hope that his bowling will get better.

5 bowlers can work if the likes of Broad / Flintoff constantly fire with the bat. But theres going to be times both get out cheaply and England will be in deep trouble. Especially when you add the Keeper getting out for not very many into the equation.

Hope Smith gets out when SA bat again, his face must've been priceless when we went past it and would be better if that happened.

would be my XI for the 3rd test. Flintoff in a 4 man bowling attack is a risk, but Collingwood can make up some overs if really pressed.

Broad now tops the series averages for England with 80.00....

....yep go ahead and drop him as England don't need those runs at all

I know he was demoted because of the nightwatchman, but it can't be too many times a number nine has top-scored in a test match.
