Meanwhile Scott Newman is playing something of a lone hand to try and make a game of it. 103* out of 170 for 4 last I checked.

Breaking news... the Pro40 will breathe its last next year :)

In other, less welcome news, it will be replaced by a 20-team EPL in 2010. Giles Clarke is currently making up the rules live on SSN.

This is instead of last week's model of 9 regional 2020 teams isn't it?

Interesting. A real comprimise deal.

Obviously the 2 overseas teams is a way to try and increase TVand ad revenue to help bring resources in to fund a massive 20 team tournament.

Its not my idea of a great solution but maybe its the most practical.

The 2 overseas sides mentione likely to be australia A and a standford xl(since standford funding it).
An IPL was suggested, guess that has been ditched.

Surrey's lineup has to be their weakest top 6 for eons - Newman, Walters, Murtagh, Batty, Afzaal & Spreigal. Ramps must be injured as well as Butcher. Benning & Brown too, unless they've written the season off and thought they'd throw the kids in. Time for the Durham bowlers to clean up, you'd hae thought.

Bowling isn't much better either - no Nicholson, Saqlain or Collins. Can't believe they've given up on the season though with nearly half the programme left and relegation such a big issue.

Just seen Anthony McGrath interviewed - I don't want to come across all EW Swanton, but every player I see on TV lately seems to have 3 or 4 days of beard growth. This never used to happen when we had the Gillette Cup. :@

Think this guy played a game or two in the Gillette Cup.

Can't decide if Both looks "special" or as if he's receiving oral pleasure in that pic. Has that beatific, thousand-yard stare.

If the pic's from Roebuck's days at Zummerset it's prob the latter, tbh.
