There was a book written about the old Surrey stumper Edward Pooley a few years ago - anyone recall who wrote it and know where I might find a copy? He was a bit of a 'character' by all accounts.

It was written by Keith Booth and called "His Own Enemy" - theres a copy at the Internet Bookshop for a fiver or else the usual suspects will, no doubt, oblige at a higher cost

Thanks, I'll look into that. I work with an Eddie Pooley and I'd be curious to know if he's some relation. Unlikely I know, but my friend is from a south London family and the cricketer Pooley died in the Lambeth workhouse. I might be able to spot a family resemblance.

SJS has written one, but we have a bit of a back log at the moment, will put it up next Thurs, as I still have one from NC, Stumpski, FF, and about 12 from you and me
