Nadal's hardcourt seasons have always been pretty up and down. It'll be interesting to see how he goes at the US Open.

I know at the Aus Open he always seems to cop the 'new guy' on the scene who is kicking ass and taking names. Baghdatis, Gonzalez (although to be fair he wasn't knew, but no one saw his run coming) and then Tsonga.
2009, he'll get Tommy Haas second round???

No, ok ill be quiet now...

Don't reckon Nadal will win a hardcourt slam in the next 18 months tbh. Federer & to a certain extent, Djokovic, still have an advantage over him on the faster surfaces.

Nadal's hard court record is hardly terrible, he's in prime form and is having a bit of a rest now, reckon we will see Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, rotating other in the semis of all the major tournaments for the rest of this year. I think nadal can win enough of those semi's and finals to come out with the world number 1 ranking by December.

I didn't say Nadal had a terrible Hard Court record, was merely pointing out that I don't think he'll take either the US or Australian open off Federer or Djokovic in the next year or so.

So by hardcourt title, u meant Grand Slam?

I figured that included Masters series events too.

Roger's Cup ought to be epic, what with Federer, Djokovic and Nadal all making the semis last year. Starts on the 19th. Fed won it the last time it was in Toronto. GO THE FED.

Just saw on FSN that Guillermo Coria is now ranked 557 in the world? What the **** happened to him?

Injuries.

I officially hate the guy.

He's very talented, and twice I have almost made the greatest bet of all time, but he decides to act like a ****.

He's still good enough to challenge players, and he's sometimes paying odds mid-match of up to and over $15. Once he lost the first set on clay in a best of 3 setter, and was paying $17. I put $10 on him. He romped the second set, and choked in the third when in a winning position.

What a wanker.

Played a game in Stuttgart yesterday against countryman Schwank. Won the first set to love. Won three games after that.

In vintage Safin style, following making the semis of Wimbledon he loses in the 2nd round of the Sweden Open to Starace.

He lost the unloseable French Open final to Gaston Gaudio. Had he won that match I reckon Nadal wouldnt have four french opens to his name and Coria would still be top 5.
Worst second serve in the history of mens tennis though.

Not surprised he lost to Simon really, he's a very good player, potentially a top 10 imo, but its abvious Federer isnt the player he was.

He hasn't been as good this year - I wonder if it has something to do with his rushing back to play the Aussie Open. In hindsight, might he have been better off sitting it out and getting over what ever it was he had at the start of the year before setting out on a hectic schedule?

Obviously the improvement in Nadal and Novak is a bigger factor, but i wonder if this has played a part.
