Well 3 of the only 4 decent women's tennis players are grunters, so it's the way its going to be.

Serena looks absolutely shattered after that loss. Really can't believe people suggest they don't give it their all out there. Very insulting to two of the best sportsperons in the last decade.

I had money on both of them to win Wimbledon each way early in the tournament, but once Serena lost the first set I put some more on her to win.

Venus at one stage was paying 3.40 when 3-1 down in the first set. Was very close to getting on then, but wasn't going to put much on to be fair. But I did have a sense she'd come back and win the first set. Didn't think she'd win in straight sets though.

What about that Laura Robson, eh? 14 years old & junior Wimbledon champ.

Born in Melbourne apparently, so Australians can get on board too.

I was exactly the same at that stage. Was tempted to put a 3.30 order on at Betfair but didn't really want to ring up and destroy my profit margin.

She doesn't sound Australian though, so that's OK. The meeja will be all over her now though. Expect the Mail on Sunday to have a double page feature tomorrow, poor kid. Completely forgot about the women's final, been watching the cricket on Sky and also toddled down to the local cricket ground (no game, but a real ale fair).

Left Australia when she was 18 months, parents clearly have class:)

Yes, the hype will reach a ridiculous crescendo, front page of all the tabs tomorrow, I bet.

She seems quite unfazed by it, just said she'd "take her down", when asked how she'd do against Venus.

The scheduled TV lineup for Switzerland's channel 2 tomorrow...

13.30-14.50 British Grand Prix
14.50-15.50 Wimbledon final
15.50-17.30 Tour de France, stage 2

Just pointing out how tiny tennis actually is on the TV front. This is the largest match of the season and the national TV channel of the country of one of the participants was considering snipping it midway through for pictures of French countryside. (As an added bonus, the British Grand Prix would have been cut too.)

It's been changed now, apparently, with the Grand Prix shoved to channel 1 and Wimbledon and the Tour going to be broadcast together (presumably switching when there's a sprint in the cycling and otherwise not caring)

Nadal break up already...c'mon my son.

EDIT: Ripper of a start from both sides here.

Ergh, she seems a really nice girl as well, I hope the media don't ruin her.
Yes our meedja seem to have the ability to kill peoples career with ridiculous hype.

On the other hand, the Fed-nads match is living up to the deserved hype, so far:)

Nadal up two sets, can Roger win three on the trot to complete a (as it stands at the moment IMO) unlikely looking comeback?

How ****ing good is this.

The quality of tennis is so high its ridiculous. Nadal is almost chasing down everything.

Rafa is 2 sets up, I really want him to take this out but I'd love a 5 set epic.
