Maybe because they are substandard?Haha, bloody hell.
NZ do like to bash-up substandard sides.
Aye, but NZ seem to bash them better than most do.Maybe because they are substandard?
And all the top 5 have come in games that shouldn't be classed as ODIs in several million years.James Marshall has the 4th highest ODI score for NZ ever
And some teams lose against them.Aye, but NZ seem to bash them better than most do.
Gun call, t.b.h.I wonder if Bracewell will give Marshall and Hopkins games against Ireland and Scotland?
They will minnow-bash a century and a fifty a piece and thus we will be stuck with them for the champions trophy. Dear-oh-dear. Can see it happening from a mile away.
I don't think he was criticising NZ; just pointing it out.And some teams lose against them.
I definitely know what I want my team to do against a minnow.
Aye, me too. I wasn't suggesting (as you maybe seem to believe I was) that NZ are doing anything wrong by bashing substandard sides. Merely commenting on the fact that they seem to do it better than most. And some teams lose against them.
I definitely know what I want my team to do against a minnow.
Nah, I was just forcing the inenvitable post that proceeded this one.I don't think he was criticising NZ; just pointing it out.
The word "pointless" comes to mind. This match is a ridiculous farce - even moreso than matches involving an associate and a Test nation usually are. Some of the players Ireland are fielding wouldn't make their Second XI at full strength and only Botha, McCallan and White would push for selection if they had all players available.
I wouldn't say they are a waste of time for the non-ODI-standard team. How are they going to get better if they don't play a really good side every now and again, its not like they are playing them all the time.Matches between ODI-standard teams and non-ODI-standard teams, which aren't pre-ODI matches, are always a waste of time.
You don't get better by being hopelessly outgunned, even though most outgunnings aren't this bad.I wouldn't say they are a waste of time for the non-ODI-standard team. Not sure, but I wouldn't blame them in the slightest if they were.I do find in crazy that so many players are missing. Porterfield, Morgan etc too busy trying to qualify for England?
Yeah, but a couple of games against a good side once a year isn't such a bad thing. It would just be nice if there whole team showed up.You don't get better by being hopelessly outgunned, even though most outgunnings aren't this bad.
You get better by playing teams slightly above your level, not miles above it.
A bit of a joke though. Not sure, but I wouldn't blame them in the slightest if they were.
It's not the end of The World, but personally I don't see any real point in it. And if they must be played, they certainly shouldn't be classified ODIs.Yeah, but a couple of games against a good side once a year isn't such a bad thing. It would just be nice if there whole team showed up.
I don't think it neccessarily is. Until recently England and Ireland has been one united entity in cricket terms. It's only because I$C$C want to create the illusion of expansion, and that there's never been an Irish county playing in the County Championship, that they're currently defined as separate.A bit of a joke though.
