Itll be interesting tonight. Would like to see Patel get a go but leave Southee in there. I bet Marshall will score big when it doesn't count for anything!

International Captain
Ryan Haire is an interesting selection. He played as a 19 year old in the annual match against Scotland in 2000, made a pair, and hasn't featured since, not even in the FP Trophy or ICC Trophy. He's re-appeared out of nowhere. Made a few runs against Bangladesh 'A' last week, that was when I spotted the name.

Brendon McCullum in with a decent shout of his first ODI century in this game. 63* from 54 at the moment.

McCullum on 63 not out at the moment. Without wanting to jinx him, I'd say hes a good chance at his maiden ODI hundred.

Bopara in England side keeps alive England's modern tradition of helping mediocrity have its day in the sun.

And if the logic is that he is the best amongst the choices available then why crib about foreign players reducing opportunities to local talent.

I fear for Test cricket not because of the advent of 20:20 but much more because of the seemingly irreversible downward trends in the English cricketers' skill sets. Survival of the Cricket tradition needs the original Test playing nations to be healthy and thriving. Irrespective of the billions who follow the game in the sub-continent, dont trust us on this score. We love our Lalit Modis and Sharad Pawars far to much

McCullum has slowed down greatly, his last six runs have come in 22 balls. James Marshall struggling to score at a decent rate, even against such poor quality opposition.

Playing for his maiden ODI century, against a gun team like Ireland?
It would be a century, but wont count for much.

James Marshall struggling to score at a decent rate, even against such poor quality opposition.
What do you expect from such a ****?

A couple of sixes off McCallan and hes back underway. 85* now.

Does anyone know if Ireland have taken their power plays yet?

Nah, it'd count for very little. Even less if he slows down dramatically in an effort to reach it. However, it is a personal milestone he's been after for a while now, and maybe it'll give him a bit more confidence that he can convert those 70's and 80's into centuries. Here's hoping.

Not a great deal TBH.

93* from 103.

I don't want to jinx him, but I can see him getting out for 99.
