Not with the team I named. Far from it.Didn't you beat us at home in 2007?

No one wants to piss off the BCCI.Are ICL players banned internationally? I thought it was at each board's discretion. Would be worth going back to Read if possible - ironically it was his poor CT performances that got him dropped for the Ashes, though.
No, no-one who's played in the ICL will be playing international cricket again. At the very least, as long as the ICL exists for - and possibly ever. Are ICL players banned internationally? I thought it was at each board's discretion.
Nope. Don't think it was unfair either. Nixon was only ever a stopgap measure, he'd have been told the score, and he did the job asked of him.Haha, anyone regretting Nixon being unfairly dumped?
Who was different, and better? Not with the team I named. Far from it.
Let me summarise:Blast speedway BTW. Highlights delayed by an hour.
Oh diddums. I had the original telecast delayed four hours!Blast speedway BTW. Highlights delayed by an hour.
This will continue to be England's problem. They dont have big hitters in the end and cant accelerate if they want to too.Let me summarise:
New Zealand go at 3.5 an over, then Oram goes ballistic with 15 overs to go. England go at 3.5 an over and have lost by the 45th over when Shah decides to have a go and gets out.

This is true, however picking Ambrose won't help us in 2011 either. Clearly not an ODI keeper. Mustard wasn't great, but crucially he opened up slightly better than Luke Wright and scored more runs than Ambrose, for these reasons I believe he should perhaps be recalled. Doubt the selectors would do such an about-turn, you never know though.Nope. Don't think it was unfair either. It was always going to be a case of Nixon coming-in for that winter then dropping-out again for someone who could play in WC2011.
Picking Nixon now won't and wouldn't help us in 2011.
A fit Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels, to name two. Edwards was also fit and bowling well - took a fair few in the series, IIRC.Who was different, and better?
But picking that one, average cricketer, could earn the ECB the most powerful enemy in the sport. For obvious reasons, making an enemy of the BCCI is more disastrous than pissing off the ICC.You know my thoughts already on whether we should be concerned about the BCCI's anti-ICL stance, so I won't go there, but I don't see why our team should suffer. If Read is the best man for the job then give it to him. Oh hell, I went there after all
Yeah but you're so used to that your em@il has been decreed spam. We only get this once every year or so in this country.Oh diddums. I had the original telecast delayed four hours!
Aye, I know roughly what happened, I listened to more of it than not on the radio (and watched the first 20-odd overs of NZ's innings before playing today). Just want to see what it looked like.Let me summarise:
New Zealand go at 3.5 an over, then Oram goes ballistic with 15 overs to go. England go at 3.5 an over and have lost by the 45th over when Shah decides to have a go and gets out.
I actually don't think Ambrose's OD batting is all as bad as had been made out. However, I don't think he's going to be particularly useful at #7. If you could find a spot for him at #5 I think he'd be pretty good but it's not going to happen. This is true, however picking Ambrose won't help us in 2011 either. Clearly not an ODI keeper. Personally I don't think these 3 innings is enough for me to decide Ambrose isn't a ODI batsman. If he goes poorly against SA too, then give the next buggins a go (ideally Foster rather than Mustard again). But over-hasty decisions have bedevilled England many times in the recent past, almost as much as picking nonsense players (like Wright and Mustard). This is true, however picking Ambrose won't help us in 2011 either. Like it or not, we have far more to lose by defying the BCCI than we do by not having the best wicketkeeper-batsman in the country play for us. I cannot understand why anyone thinks it'd be anything but mad to defy them. And as Camps pointed-out, it's not like Read is the second coming of Alec Stewart. You know my thoughts already on whether we should be concerned about the BCCI's anti-ICL stance, so I won't go there, but I don't see why our team should suffer. Needs to sort his catching out.I actually don't think Ambrose's OD batting is all as bad as had been made out. However, I don't think he's going to be particularly useful at #7. If you could find a spot for him at #5 I think he'd be pretty good but it's not going to happen.
He dropped 1 sitter. I dropped 2 earlier today (well, 1 sitter and one fairly straightforward 1).Needs to sort his catching out.
