Anderson's last 57 ODIs against ODI-standard teams, before this game, from the winter of 2003/04 onwards, produce an average of 34.36 and an economy-rate of 5.23, which is only fractionally above his career ODI-standard-team rate of 5.17.

By my reckoning he's bowled well 12 times out of these 57. That is extremely poor.

Certainly pretty sharp, 92 mph on one occasion there.

Still, that just means the ball slips onto, and off, the bat more quickly.

2 overs for 8 so far.

Bloody hell this thread's quiet today, given it's the last game of the series.

I do like Nigel Llong as an Umpire BTW. True, I liked Asoka de Silva the first time I came accross him too, but Llong has been around 3 years now, and has generally looked pretty good.

Just have to hope he doesn't decide to do a Jeremy Lloyds.

What's that, then?

What's what sorry? Doing a Jeremy Lloyds? Deciding after a few international matches that he'd prefer stick to the domestic scene. Lloyds decided he didn't want to be an international panel Umpire, which was something of a shame as he looked pretty decent.

You think this is a trend with umpires whose surnames start with "Ll", do you?

I must admit I don't really understand the procedure by which county umpires get promoted to international duties (generally starting with ODIs, of course). Naturally they would have to express an interest, not everyone would want to do it - but it is done on recommendations by county captains do you think?

And as I write, Broad takes another to end Taylor's disappointing series.

Broad seems to be on a bit of form with the ball at the moment. I'm impressed, good pace and accuracy.

Just needs consistency, so even when he's not bowling brilliantly he doesn't leak runs. I like...

Not all that disappointed with New Zealand's start to be honest. Ten overs from Bopara and Wright we should be able to get plenty from, and Swann can also now be targeted.

McCullum's bat doesn't look too healthy though!

Pretty unusual for a bat to be snapping in half like that.

Anyway, thought we could be in for a tough time in the first couple of overs. Anderson and Sidebottom were bowling well, the ball was moving around a fair bit and McCullum looked really scratchy. Good to see him still out there though, hopefully Styris can lay to rest the myth he can't play on seam bowling friendly surfaces and make a good score.
