Yeah AWTA. I think fines are the most appropriate punishment for slow over-rates.
I'm just trying to think if that slow over rate fine applies to the Standford initiative and if that happened, what would be players be thinking?

Slow over rate to win the game and cop the fine, or lose the game...

get over the run-out... we won the game!

What a turn around from from chester-le-street. We were dead and buried then and now since Grant Elliott has come into the side we look gun! Top order is still frustrating though and Ross Taylor played a stupid shot yet again.A timely return to form for Piggy though as his place in the side was being doubted.

True, however the last two haven't been the most emphatic of wins, and as for the 2nd ODI, well the papers say NZ were robbed but it could have gone either way really. I wouldn't say NZ look gun just yet.

The runout, for those that haven't seen it
Ah ok. First time watching it.

I dont know what Id do, or what is correct.

Its a tough one and its a 50/50 in my mind.

However, the way people in the commentary are going on its like a guy was mankaded for 0 on his birthday in his retirement game.

What happened isnt 'nice' but its not a social game in the park. Far excess drama than is needed. I just thank God it wasnt an Indian runout or we would be having almost World War 3 right now.

The most mediocre side in history playing the dumbest side on the planet. .
But which one is which?

And which member of the New Zealand team have I dismissed? But going one better than England and doing it fairly?

Paul Collingwood said:
"In the heat of the moment, a quick decision had to be made," Collingwood reasoned. "Both players collided. I asked Sidebottom straight away: 'were you going for the ball?' He said, 100%, that he was going for the ball, for the run-out. [It was a] split second decision in a tight game, with emotions running high. The umpire asked me if I wanted to uphold my appeal, and I said I was still appealing.

"I've never been in that situation before. I don't think I've even been on the field as a player [when a decision like that has been made]. In hindsight I wish I had called him back. You come off the pitch and wonder if you should have done things differently. I hold my hands up and say I probably made the wrong decision, and that is something that I will have to live with. As a captain I was thinking, 'What is the right or wrong thing to do here? I've shook hands with Daniel Vettori on the pitch, and spoken together, and hopefully everything will be okay."
Daniel Vettori said:
"First of all, I'd like to apologise properly for some of our team's reactions - my reaction as well - at the end of the game," Vettori said. "They were a little bit over the top. I've spoken to Paul [Collingwood] about it and the coach, Peter Moores, and I just wanted to get that out in the open. It was a game that I think we deserved to win, but it would have been nice if it was played out in the manner that it should have been, and then the game would've seen the right result and the right win.

"We couldn't understand it up there. I'd like to think it's a decision that I won't ever have to make, but if I do, it'll be the right one. Paul's come and spoken to us and apologised, and acted contrite, so we'll move on from the situation and hopefully it won't happen again."
Reckon if they can get over it, so can some other people.

Question.

Say Collingwood chose not to appeal.

Surely NZ shouldn't get the run right? Elliot should have gone back to the striker's end.

Just saw the video, CANNOT BELIEVE McCullum threw a stink.

What a dickhead. That's so hypocritical.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.
Where were you guys when I needed you on my anti-Vettori rants... j/k.

Come to think of it, McCullum and Vettori, our so-called stars of the side didn't perform and we still managed to guts it out. Styris, Mills and Oram did though, and they are also part of the 'leadership' group.

McCullum and Vettori- the problem with the Black Caps atm. Under-performing, their own biggest fans, and given way to much authority in the team set-up.
