Just been looking at the scorecards and *wow* for Napier. Pretty incredible innings. Mind you, I've seen Devon Malcolm hit sixes at Chelmsford before (granted, not 16 of them in one innings) but its not the biggest of grounds in the world.

True, but they were all going miles past the boundary ropes, they would have been 6s anywhere. I think 7 went out of the ground.

Don't know if anyone is interested but 2moro here in Manchester is the semi-finals of our Inter-school competitions:

1st Semi: Manchester Grammar (my school & defending champs) vs Crompton House

2nd Semi: Lancaster RGS (beaten finalist last year) vs Rainford HS/Saint Francis Xavier HS

This year hasn't been as competitive as last year given most schools & parents have prevented 2nd year 6th formers from playing given exams. But potentially the biggest rivalry in school cricket in Lancaster between MGS & LRGS is on again...
Heard MGS aren't that strong this year as well - they have one or two (unnamed, you know who they are) decent spinners and batsmen, but not much else. They got smashed by Birkenhead, who said we were the best side they've played so far this year... and we're not that strong.

Hate Twenty20 so much.. Yeah Napier might have had a good day, but there is no way that in real sport, a player so mediocre should be able to so utterly dominate.. What an abject farce this.. Perhaps if I rock up in my pads I'll be able to hit a quick 80.. Ridiculous, glad I spent all evening watching rugby.. Anyone want to come form Rugbyweb.net?

Happy days. Small stands at Chelmsford at the moment, quite easy to hit over the top on the leg side on the New London Road side of the ground. Much tougher to hit over the pavillion on the opposite side or the stand at the River End of the ground. Big Devon hit two out of the ground on the New London Road side when I was watching a game there once. Top Class!

As a Sussex fan I have a lot of sympathy with what you're saying.

However his hitting was clean and reasonably orthodox, and the short boundaries were not relevant because he kept on hitting the ball out of the ground.

It was an amazing display.

And horrible, horrible, horrible to be on the receiving end of it, even if (as far as Sussex are concerned) it's a dead rubber.

It was a bit tongue in cheek, but it depresses me that guys like Napier are getting talked about as England prospects on the back of a glorified swipe which, to me, isn't even cricket.. Makes it all seem devalued..

Ha, what have these youngster been doing then. The under 17s have just been poor i am surprised they are in the semi's TBH given last year winning team that i was in all weren't either allowed to play given exams on not eligible due to age restrictions. Isn't Birkenhead one of those new 6th form schools?, can't believe they managed to put out a team lol. What school are you at?

You probably heard about the under 14 team where two blokes Ed Bullock & Matt Barcoe apparantley carried the batting while two asian blokes something Vaish a left-arm spinner & someone else don't know..

I know.. Im sorely tempted to be honest.. Shotgun the idea before anyone else picks that up and runs with it.. The standard of rugby forums around is shocking, and theres a load of fans here able to start it off..
Brumbers, Volty, myself and you. Plenty more to, just can't think of names.

Goughy probably dabbles.. Surprisingly few hardcore fans though, considering Rugby and Cricket playing nations are pretty similar..
The Irish lads are also pretty keen on their rugby.

Anyway, awesome knocks from Graham Napier and Lou Vincent and particularly impressive bowling from Kaneria and Middlebrook for Essex. Pleased to see the boys notching up a win.

Surrey about to win Twenty20 match shock? I thought this one was in the bag, but Kent need 44 off 4.3 overs with three wickets standing. Razzaq vs Mahmood was an interesting contest, Surrey (and Pakistan) players past and present.

Feel good about Notts' chances tonight.

Coney's annoying as hell, btw. Only been 2 overs and I want to kill him. Can't remember hearing him commentate before. Think I might have blocked it out.
