Anyone want to fill me in with how the young un's are going this season, that being the likes of Harris, Finn and Goodleman.
Finn is still looking like the next William Jefferson, more famous for height than skill; Godleman's been a bit disappointing but he's still only 19 and most 19-year-olds wouldn't be capable of anything like what he's achieved to date.

Harris still isn't playing regularly - A-levels do that to you. Dunno if he's going to Uni, if not I'd guess he'll be available all next season.

Interesting. Can't the ECB deny work permits on the basis of the fact that the county game is the feeder toward international cricket and that Kolpaks do not serve such a purpose.
Nope. Cricket, currently, is (highly erroneously IMO) defined as the same as all other forms of employment.

WoW, a tour of Bangladesh, such a big reward. I seem to recall him playing, what, 2 games against India on that tour. May even have been just 1.

He played a whole 1 Test in England, on one of the flattest pitches you'll see and in a game where barely a single ball swung all match. He still managed to bowl economically, mind.

Willoughby did not get a fair crack of the whip at international level, I am not changing my mind there.
It is because it’s the chance for any decent bowler worth their salt to take a **** load of wickets. Alan Dawson, a journeyman cricketer went there and took wickets, Willoughby didn't.

Thanks, also noticed that Rashid has been Atherton like with the bat in the sense of scoring speed. He is also taking wickets, but at a fair tick, probably 40+ so far.

Rashid is very much a batsman more than bowler at the current time. At least his bowling has been economical this year though, which for a wristie is something.

I'm vaguely encouraged by his contributions so far this year, he's a valuable all-round cricketer and certainly far better with bat and ball than Ian Blackwell.

Interestingly, he averages 54.85 with the ball in FC cricket this season. That is the worst of any bowler with 10 or more wickets. Also averaging 21 with the bat with only one 50.

He is a project. Not much to get excited about yet (as some have been doing for years)

Willoughby's bowled a fair bit quicker than that merely on the occasions I've seen him. He had virtually no international opportunities, and neither Nel nor Ntini have ever truly convinced on the international stage.

True, I'm getting less and less excited as time goes on and I'm an Aussie, seems a good propect though. He batting ability seems to be of recognised by Yorkshire too, they allowed 2-3 batsmen to bat ahead of him in the last CC match, Brophy, Bresnan and Pyrah I believe.

Far more to a career than overall figures. What do ODIs have to do with anything BTW?

How did this thread get off the front page? Twenty20 domestic competition started today; I assume this is the thread to use and there won't be a special dedicated one, right?

Sussex 92-3 vs holders Kent (on Sky)

And Surrey's first three (inc Ramps) all made 1 against Essex. That's a variation on 'Nelson', is it?

David Sales has hit 6 sixes in his unbeaten 70, with an over left. It's only at Taunton, though.

Interested in how Collingwood's innings, which is currently in place, goes.
No it isn't. BBC website has decided that Derbyshire are batting now.

That's one of the weirdest things I've seen. Every name on the scorecard has changed. How do you mix up whole teams? Surely they should be able to tell the difference between Langeveldt bowling at Mustard and Plunkett bowling at Rikki.

Still getting the 9 overs score from the Oval, from both Cricinfo and the Beeb. Can't believe play has been stopped though.

Sussex all out 137.

 @ BBC. They have a commentator there ffs. Radio confirms Derbyshire are batting.

Sussex 137 all out against Kent. They've added to their "shared names" column by recruiting yet another Tom Smith.

BTW, do Leicestershire actually have any English players? Ackerman, Dippenaar, du Toit, du Preez, Henderson, Kruger...

I'm genuinely surprised that Leicester isn't located at the foot of Njesuthi.

Collingwood 2-6 now. Obvious course of action to deal with his lack of runs is drop Broad for Shah and move Collingwood to 8.
