Dunno what went on with my typing in those two earlier posts. I agree about Dexter FWIW - I'd rather see an English lad in the side really but he certainly deserves a run. I would rather he was subbing for one of the less in-form batsmen than VJ but you can't have everything.

On TMS earlier today, as the score from that game was being read, poor misinformed Kiwi Bryan Waddle asked the inevitable question of whether Neil was related to Lord Edward.

Facing Caddick, Thomas and Willoughby (and Phillips) though, you'd imagine our batsmen will have more of an examination than Somerset's facing Hoggard, Bresnan, Wainwright, Patterson and Pyrah. Batting doesn't look as strong as it might either: Rudolph, Lyth, McGrath, Gale, Rashid, Brophy, Pyrah, Bresnan.

Still annoyed we released Matthew Wood in favour of Sayers, have never been remotely convinced by him.

Rudolph is probably only opening for us because there's so little other option, mind.

I honestly don't think I've ever seen a side play with seven front-line bowlers before.

What's more, only 1 of these is someone who has never been considered for international cricket. That being Lucas.

I'm going to Lord's tomorrow - Middlesex in an excellent position v Essex - not altogether happy about the forecast though. Better on the BBC site than on News 24 for some reason.

Nah, he's never actually played for SA A, but I'm pretty sure he was fairly seriously considered around about 2003/04, 2004/05 sort of time. Not sure if there's anyone on here whose SA-cricket-following goes back far enough to tell us for sure.
