Richard, you didn’t watch it though, so what are you whinging about? Also Langeveldt might have bowled utter ****, which isn’t hard to believe.

Presumably if KP goes for a duck tomorrow and Monty scores 1 it would resonate a similar emotion? For KP is undoubtedly England’s best batsman but a clown outscored him.

Makes you wonder why you watch cricket doesn’t it, no not really, just makes you appreciate the game even more when instances such as that can happen. Would be no point watching the game if Langeveldt is predestined supposedly because his the better bowler to always 'out-bowl' his team-mates.

TT Boy when again did you say until Ryan McClaren qualifies for England?
2011(?). Ryan is apparently not going back to South Africa this year (which could have effected his required days for qualification) and opting instead to spend his six months here or possibly in the ICL.

To be honest when he does qualify, I can't see him being more than a just a one day cricketer. Although, he could be more if England's bowling resources are poor/weak at the time. What you have to remember with McLaren is that he doesn't take the new ball (anymore), isn't particularly quick and bowls frequently in limited overs cricket with the keeper standing up. Not really the sort of bowler who could spearhead a test attack, especially when his been found wanting on flat tracks here and back home but in saying that his a great fielder, decent batsman and very good early season bowler.

No, Ryan's quicker than that, bowls about 80mph's (+) and is quite skiddy. Also gets a decent bit of reverse, poor man's Graham Napier to be honest.
Does he seriously top 80? Not in the WC that I can remember. What's his accuracy like these days? He wasn't exactly a line & length metronome when I saw him.

Yeah, I've seen him lots of time clock it at around 80mph (+). His biggest problem aside from a lack of variety and height is that he tends to skid nicely onto the batsman pads and thus gets milked and spanked quite easily but his more than just a Ponting or Bell type bowler.

Well, so in which case are all TBH. Yes, obviously unexpected stuff does happen. But yes, it is silly. And really, I don't see the harm in pointing-out the absurdity.

And Pietersen scoring a duck and MSP, Sidebottom and Anderson all scoring in the 30s would be a more analogous situation, TBH, TT.

Yeah, but we're not comparing Shane Warne to Exeter 3s bowling attack are we?. Wagg, Lungley, Clare and Needham are all FC cricketers, the gap between them and Langeveldt is not as big as you make out.

They're all crap First-Class (well, ODD more like) cricketers (Clare possibly with some potential mind) and Langeveldt is a decent ODI bowler.

It's a huge gap. And to have Langeveldt get such poor figures relative to them is more than a bit unusual\unexpected.

Gawd, Needham has played 7 FC games (and has done poorly) but you can't judge him on that. Lungley and Wagg both took over 50 Championship wickets and their respective careers don't put them under "crap cricketers" at all. Lungley which has been well documented has had many injury problems in the past and Wagg may well be starting to come together after his drugs ban.

Clare another Lancs reject tbh, left a few years ago due to limited opportunites (played like 2 Second XI champs games in 2 years)

Langeveldt

Soutie
Gareth Andrew is the worst bowler I have ever seen at county level, with the possible exception of Chris Wright.
haha, agree with you.. Words fail me as to how he's got a contract after his Somerset one.. Hate it when people say "Well he can bat a bit", like that makes it okay to be naff..

I see that Middlesex have signed an Australian 'Englishman', one Dirk Nannes from Victoria, 32 years old with a career bowling average of 32 and a best of 4-49. Good for them. 8-) None for 50 in the current game.

That's incredibly weird, I had absolutely no idea Nannes was so old. Thought he was 25-26. Don't judge too much by his lack of First-Class cricket though, Victoria have always had very strong seam-bowling stocks through his career - first Inness, Harwood, Lewis and Harvey, then McDonald and Wise, now they've imported the likes of Denton and there's the likes of McKay and Siddle coming through.

Nannes still managed 6 games last season though, taking decent figures of 28.54. And look at Darren Pattinson, too - an even more peripheral figure at Victoria who has ripped all apart so far this season. Granted, though, Lord's and Trent Bridge tend to have a slightly differing degree of seam-friendliness.

Lungley and Wagg are both very poor indeed IMO, and Needham is a fingerspinner FFS, how on Earth is he ever going to amount to anything at Derbyshire? When did you last see a turning pitch at Derby?

Silverwood's injured, I take it? He's been one of their best bowlers the last couple of seasons.

With this Danny Evans fellow, we have to question whether the blow will be felt.

He's had an unbelievable start to this year.

Nannes is playing on a Dutch passport.
