It was Stirlo talking him up wasn't it? It was funny to an extent, but I've got the utmost respect for the guy. 95kg and still tackles pretty much anyone. Legend.
I think it was Rabs, Sterlo was playing a supporting role. The timing was brilliant.

Missed this. Would have tipped Queensland anyway. Surely Prince be shipped in for game two if they don't pull Lockyer out from somewhere. Vaughtin summed it up perfectly after the game. NSW were just excellent and Queensland had nothing from dummy half and no depth in attack.

Undoubtedly the worst game I've seen Thurston play.

Never felt like we were really in that game. It reminded me of the Test match, where an early, big lead was established and was never really under threat both in terms of the score and in terms of the potency of the team who was trailing. Fair play to NSW though. Qld, at a minimum, need Lockyer and Price back.

I was really surprised with the lack of oomph from Qld early.

You can tell so much from the early stuff - NSW out past the 30 on tackle 3 in the first set of an Origin pretty much set the tone for the night.

Don't reckon Carl Webb should start tbh. I know there were injuries, but if Price is fit, he must start for Qld, Webb to the bench IMO.

The forwards, Petro aside, not having a crack at trying to go forward was a bigger one.
Yep, if the forwards are going forward then it would of worked. If they are going backwards then the backs are not able to do much.

Agree - we got murdered in the forwards and only completed something like 11 of 25 sets in the 2nd half. In those circumstances, it doesn't matter who you have in the halves - Lewis and Langer wouldn't have been able to get us off the hook.

Lewis & Langer would have at least looked like scoring a try in the second half. QLD had more than enough chances to make something happen, but unfortunately didn't. Thurston showed last night that he really is a 5/8 imo.

Some great hits from both sides last night, it was great to watch. NSW just destroyed them in defence. Lost count of the number of times Slater (in particular) and Thurston got thumped. Smith seemed to be missing all night. Great tactics and great performance.

Queensland missed Price more then they missed Lockyear or Prince IMO. Webb, Thailday, Hannant and Myles are all good footballers and up to SOO standard, but Price if a class above. Really lacked someone else up front to lead the way with Civ.

Hunt wasn't great at 5/8, but really they should have rotated him Inglis more in defence, if not is attack as well. There was all this talk from Mal that if things weren't going right at 5/8 they had other options. But not once did they try any other options. Not doubt if they played Prince they would have more options in attack. But there is potential of line breaks all over the place. Hunt defensive work at 5/8 was up there with best performances in defensive I have seen in while from a playmaker.

The big thing about NSW performances was that no really stood out. They all had a good game and got their job. Reminded me a fair bit of the early day Storm under CB.

My God, if Lockyer isn't fit for the 2nd game and Prince isn't selected then the QLD selectors should be sacked. Hunt did a great job in defence, and imo will make a great lock one day, but he's the best fullback in the country, and should be at the back. Slater can be brilliant, but makes far too many mistakes, wouldn't mind him coming off the bench though.

The sooner Price comes back the better. Also, Myles needs to start. Never been a big fan, but he played really well last night. Don't see what the selectors see in Lillyman tbh.

Can't understand people tipping the Tigers ahead of a full-strength Titans team. Is it the myth that they don't travel well?

Probably and the fact that Benji, Farah and Hogdson are all fit. Also that weak link Morris is back on bench where he belongs.
