It's their own silly fault really, spent well above their means in order to get to the SPL and because there's no fan base it all fell apart once the money dried up.

Platini; he's the bitterest man in the universe, says The Observer's Paul Wilson:

How much was Michel Platini miffed by Richard Scudamore's preposterous plan to tack on a 39th game to the Premier League season and play it in parts of the world where Uefa don't go?

It would seem the Frenchman is still sulking about it. Despite having two English teams in the Champions League final for the first time ever, the Premier League received no courtesy tickets for the Moscow game. Some Premier League officials have gained invitations from other sources, but given that in previous years the league has been well represented even at finals without an English club, Uefa's marked lack of end-of-season goodwill can only be interpreted as a snub. If Uefa is one big family, as Platini keeps saying, the EPL is now the black sheep. Alternatively, at the wedding feast that is Austria and Switzerland this summer, Scudamore and Dave Richards will be about as welcome as drunken uncles.

----

How pathetic is that? It must really kill him that the Prem is so big just now. You'd think our national team being gash would be some consolation, but not quite enough it seems.

Didn't want to go to Austria and Switzerland this summer in any case so he can stick that up his derrière

Nah, a good result for humanity would be Ashley Cole missing the kerb when driving at the top of the cliff

Cole missing the final wouldn't be a bad thing for Chelsea IMO.
IMO it would, I don't think he's been that good of late but he does have a good record of marking Ronaldo out of the game, so I'd rather he didn't play. If Bridge plays and scores the winner, I reserve the right to take that comment back.

Really? Last year Ionel Ganea left Dinamo Bucharest to join Rapid for the princely sum of 350,000 euros a year (£278,416.00) and was considered the highest paid player ever in Romania. Vieri has been offered £750,000 a season. He is better off going to Qatar or America for mine if he is after one last pay day. Unless it is changed a lot since then.
Rapid I believe are now owned by a Jordanian businessmen, Fathi Taher (since March). Taher is a big player in Bucharest (hotels, real estate et cetera) and has his hands in a lot of pies – he has already brought the club a sizeable sponsorship deal with the Romianian manufacturing business, Griro (which Taher is an adminstrator with) - So I’m sure they must be offering Vieri a decent wage if he is giving them second looks. Although, the nightlife in Bucharest is pretty wild and the city’s plethroa of hot women would be right up Bobo's alley. Don’t think you would find many supermodel-esque women on a night out in Hull...

Can you feel the looooooove tonight?

Must ask, why exactly does he deserve all this love? :p (seriously, was there 1 particular incident, or is he just a **** in general)

the transfer saga with chelsea and comments made in his autobiography about the wage offer made to him by arsenal, notably this “When I heard Jonathan repeat the figure of £55k, I nearly swerved off the road. ‘He is taking the p***, Jonathan!’ I yelled down the phone. I was trembling with anger.” A horrible little wanker.

I stand corrected then. Agree about the hot women bit, having seen a picture of Cristian Chivu's missus.

I hope you didn't buy it. So due to my ignorance of living 12,000 miles or so away, is Cole more unpopular then David Beckham was after the 1998 WC sending off?

OT but the usual stories that frank Lampard will be playing in Serie A next season, this has been going on for a few seasons now. I wish he would go or stay put and the rumours die off.

Hmm hard to say really, its a different kind of hate, as in he's despised for the way he is as a person, rather than his actions as a player, I think most of his hate comes from football fans in London who don't support Chelsea. The rest of the country isnt paticularly bothered, though the general consensus is that he's a bit of an arsehole.

Xavier - to make the sterling symbol you hold shift and press 3.

Chelsea have too much to lose but Man U are at a advantage but I wouldn't put money on this match, how do you think it's gonna go.
