City have got into Europe because Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, etc can play fair, not because they can play fair themselves. Whichever country came 2nd to the prem in the fair play league should've got the position IF the team that topped the fair play table hadnt qualified. Basically all the national winners of the fair play league should be taken, and the best one who hasnt qualified should get the spot, not find the fairest league (bear in mind fair play takes in some utter tosh reasoning such as 'spirit of the game', what a fair judging characteristic) then give it some team that came 6th.

End of the day, City played fair against the teams below them, because they dominated play and didnt need to foul. When up against it, they fouled, hence why they didnt come top. Sad there being rewarded for it really.
Rubbish. Except for the second paragraph.

Why's it rubbish, reward the teams that topped their countries fair play league, rather than the teams that finished 6th? Some team might've gone a whole season with 10 bookings and 0 red cards, but because half the league were a bunch of dirty ****s involved in mass brawls, they'd be overlooked due to their nation not ranking high on fair play, regardless of how clean they'd been. Instead City got in despite a fair few reds, because united and liverpool have been good boys all year

System is horribly, horribly flawed. Not to mention the whole points for 'spirit of the game' (which includes an excitement factor n all!) being terribly skewed towards the big leagues.

Yeah if you are going to award places on fair play, should go the whole hog and open it up to the nation. Then next season we can just focus on not tackling (which we're quite good at anyway), getting offside etc, and congratulating the ref at the end of each game. Then we can play Zenit St petersburg et al

Chris Greenacre would get the European plaudits he so obviously deserves for mine.

Without doubt. What a guy, first man to top the Mighty Whites' scoring charts in three successive years since the mighty Aldo, who may well have done it five in a row

Is Hull such a **** place to live that Christian Vieri is apparently considering joining Rapid Bucharest over Hull City?

A: Its Hull. Even the name screams (well, more like monotonously suggests) bland and drab.

Hull's lovely.

Nah, has some utterly ****e bits, it must be said. City, Hull & Bristol City are both better footballing teams than Stoke tho, who play utterly dog-turd route-one anti-football & whose main attacking weapon are Rory Delap's long throws.

Rapid: in the UEFA Cup and third in a league chock full of money
Hull: likely to be the worst side in the Premier League
Really? Last year Ionel Ganea left Dinamo Bucharest to join Rapid for the princely sum of 350,000 euros a year (£278,416.00) and was considered the highest paid player ever in Romania. Vieri has been offered £750,000 a season. He is better off going to Qatar or America for mine if he is after one last pay day. Unless it is changed a lot since then.

OT but sad to hear about the plight of Gretna in the SPL. More so for the players and staff (they do have families to feed) since they have been let go with a lot of money still owing and now face an uphill battle to get money back. Not so for their backer who left them in this situation. Yeah I bet he is hardly struggling for money
