embarassing/ immature XI

According to Mohinder Amarnath he abused not only Mohinder but his nationality as well.
That's true, though Javed did acknowledge it was wrong for him to do this and showed remorse. From Javed's autobiography Cutting Edge:

An on-field incident from that Jaipur Test has stuck in my mind. There had been crowd trouble, and some of the Pakistan players had been subjected to verbal abuse. We were also disappointed with some of the umpiring decisions; the two teams were on edge with each other and the atmosphere was tense. At one point, I was fielding close in and was airing my feelings to the batsman, who happened to be Mohinder Amernath.
When Mohinder survived what I thought was yet another very legitimate appeal, I reached boiling point. I used an expletive to describe India and Mohinder heard it. Calmly, he walked up to me. 'Look, Javed,' Mohinder said, 'call me anything you want but don't say a word against my country.'
That affected me deeply. I have always regarded my own country as being above everything except Allah. I was embarrassed that I hadn't respected Mohinder's right to feel the same way about his country. I immediately apologized to him.

Clearly wrong of Javed to insult India and I hope Mohinder accepted his apology. I must say it was extremely classy of Mohinder to react the way he did.

Snow, Sarfraz, Thommo could vie for a place, tho they'd hold no candle to Roy Gilchrist who's a shoo-in partner to Shoaib.

Let's not forget the umpires. Any suggestions to partner Hair ?
good suggestions. will add them to the list.

as for umpiring, there is the ever reliable shakhoor rana to stand at one end and really make it messy for everyone. to partner him, even more than hair i can think of some blatantly biased pakistani/ indian umpires from the 80s (but dont know their names) who hurried us on to the neutral umpire era.

has to be Hair first and then the rest when it comes to umpiring...a no-contest really...yes, Rana and other Pakis and Indians of 80's and early 90's will come, but after Hair, and 100 miles after him...

What about Ricky Ponting? Who claimed a catch which was clearly grounded? and who gave the "out" signal to Ganguly instead of the umpire in the acrimonius Sydney test? And who indulged in "there is no day tomorrow" celebrations post the match that combined with all other incidents earned the wrath of both home as well as international cricket followers and even the legends like Neil Harvey? I think Ricky Ponting makes the cut.

And so does Micheal Clarke, his deputy, who refused to walk after edging a catch to first slip! And he was the one who took that debatable catch of Ganguly in the Sydney Test also Even if the second one does not count, the first one is enough to qualify as embarassing.

I've read all the posts in this thread and other than the 'squad' I don't see why my boy Lance (Klusener) is mentioned. Any information?

Greg Chappell only did something which was within flawed rules. Not immature or embarrasing; a calculated decision which the beaten kiwis had a giant whinge about.

Sunil's walk-off in contrast was ill-tempered and petulant which smacks of immaturity.

Adam Parore should be in contention here, as should Jesse Ryder. Glenn Turner from many accounts was a dificult coach to get along with due to his need to always be right.

Is there any nationality in the top eight that hasn't had someone worthy of a mention?

And lastly, I feel its unfair for Klusener to get a mention here, can't recall anything he's done to offend. Besides, Nel is much more annoying.

Whatever it takes!!!
Harbhajan Singh, and as much as I love Andre Nel, has to be a place for him somewhere..

I've got a real dislike for Irfan Pathan.. I'd be horrified if someone as smug as he looks turned up for my side..
I feel that way about Ponting and Donald too. Get them in that side as well. 8-)

Irfan is the last Indian cricketer I'd say was smug, he just looks like a great guy, always looks friendly and happy. Yuvraj on the other hand...
Indeed... He was so nice when I went to see their practice and got to talk to him and got his pics and signature. He had a great way to handle the crowd too, esp. the little kids (all 5-10 years old and trying to push and shove each other to get in front). He behaved like a great dad, tbh. :) Made them to stand in line and anyone who tried to push or shove someone went back to the back. And he made sure he had a nice long chat with each of those kids, asking abt their cricket, their other interests etc. when it was their turn to get his signature. He honestly doesn't need anyone to manage his fans, I think. :)

Harsh, Parore smashes him into oblivion in terms of being a ****.

Tbh the media that report on the players seem more likely to be embarrasing or immature. Whenever we lose an important game in cricket or rugby large sections of the media start a nuclear war.
Ian Smith > Parore in the context of this thread, for mine.

I propose shoaib akhthar to take the new ball and harbhajan get the spinner's slot in this XI made up of players who frequently embarass(ed) their country with immature/arrogant/ stupid behavior. feel free to nominate the players. i will run the polls soon.
