*Official* English Football Season 2007-08

My point is, you probably play the best footy out of pretty much anyone, maybe Arsenal early season were better on the eye, but generally, best footballing side in the world? Yes. So it was pretty ****ing sad to watch you kill a game like that. I think that was basically Smith's point as well.
Football clubs don't win trophies because they play good football, their priority should be to win matches. If Man Utd get the result they want by playing bad football, should anyone really care?

If trophies were handed out according to the quality of football played, Arsenal would have actually won something this season.

Again, I agree that victory>entertainment, but United get better results when they are entertaining

Edit - and 0-0 away in Europe, is that really the result they want?

Should be good no matter who scores first. No matter what happens, it will mean the other side has to score a goal to get through without relying on penalties. I'm hoping for an early goal to United, obviously, but if you're a neutral it shouldn't really matter where the early goal comes from, so long as it comes.

Is the away goals rule still in effect? If so, then if Barca score first United have to score twice.

The worst owner I can ever think of was Jesus Gil. Sure the team played **** in one away game, but to ring up talk-back radio and say you wished the plane crashed and they all died?

Or sacking managers every 5 minutes on the basis it is your club and you will do whatever the hell you want. Or being dumb enough to shut the youth academy and allow Raul to go to Real Madrid. Sure he is an over-rated ponce, but why would you let Real get one-up on all you already?

According to the stats Sky showed this morning, 0-0 away first leg is historically a good result.

Anyway I don't see why everyone's saying Barcelona will score, they've only scored three goals in their last six. Even if they do score, I'm reasonably confident that unless our attacking players bottle it (less likely at OT) we can score two.

As far as I can see no one said they will score, all the posts have been saying that they hope Barca score first and early, for the sake of the match itself. God knows nobody wants to see United score in the first 20 minutes and send everyone behind the ball.

It's pretty rare that United, at home, put everyone behind the ball when they are only one goal away from going out. They tend to attack a lot more at home, playing their more traditional game. But then, with SAF, you should never really be surprised because anything can happen.

Sven getting sacked is insane.

Yes, but people have been saying 0-0 was a bad result away from home - this is only true if Barcelona score, which I think is unlikely.

which if they do.....manu scoring twice is also unlikely.....

Haha, Sven sacked. Crazy stuff. I don't agree with the style he plays but he's put together a reasonable list, who are young and need to gel together. Would've thought he'd deserve another season in the job.

Haha Sven sacked, that's crazy. Odds are City won't be where they are now come next season.

Shall make for a good game tonight. Expect a big improvement from last week and that 1st goal will be crucial as to how the game develops. So hard to tell what kinda match we are in for.
