ha ha, so the Aussies are starring; no surprise there But, seriously, VVS failing he couldn't be less cut out for the 20/20 format if he tried

Overall the Aussies are doing great though. McGrath was class as usual, Warne was fantastic in the second game, and Watson and the Hussey brothers both are already match winners. Would like to see Symonds, Ponting and Hayden do more, but overall they've been great as expected.

Really impressed by Ravindra Jadeja in this tournament so far. If he continues to play positive all round cricket in the IPL and then puts some solid First Class and List A performances on the board he definitely could make his way to the Indian ODI side as an all round spin bowler. His middle to lower order batting seems to be pretty good and he's only around 19 or 20 years old. Promising signs from him.

Agreed, I found that hilarious. I think he'll make an excellent captain and people like him talking and mentoring young Indian players is one the biggest reasons I support this tournament. Hoping Jaipur, Bangalore and Delhi make the finals tbh.

ok... hate to get involved in this again... He is an excellent motivator, an excellent team mate, an excellent senior player to have around. And he is always full of ideas and tactics and is, as such, a great guy to have as vice captain or simply as a player in your side.


But captaincy is also about selection... He has failed waaaaaay too often in that regard. And if you want to know why India were so poor when he was captain, have a look at some of his selections. It is pretty much a proven thing that he doesn't have the best eye in terms of spotting talent. Nilesh Kulkarni, Jacob Martin, MSK Prasad, Abey Kuruvilla, AA himself, the list is rather long......... I am not saying he is the worst, but he is not as good as a Sourav is or an Imran Khan was. In fact, the same could be said of Dravid. Both of them don't seem to have the best eye when it comes to spotting talent.

could you tell me who would have been in the team at that time? .... clearly that was not a good period for Indian cricket

during Ganguly's era a lot of good young players came in like Yuvi, Zaheer, Bhajji, Sehwag, and by then Laxman, Dravid, Srinath had also picked up their games .... which made a lot of difference .... guys like Kaif and Nehra, who came in, were in good form too

Today there is going to be a situation where the likes of Herschelle Gibbs is going to be confined to the bench whilst some non-descript cricketer that even the home supporters couldn’t recognise from Adam plays. I’m all for given the Indian U19 kids a go (for the most part they are extremely talented) but has-beens such as Bangar, Joshi hold little interest for me and doubtlessly the majority of the supporters.

If the IPL is going to truly explode the foreign count has to be increased.

Today there is going to be a situation where the likes of Herschelle Gibbs is going to be confide to the bench whilst some non-descript cricketer that even the home supporters couldn’t recognise from Adam plays. I’m all for given the Indian U19 kids a go (for the most part they are extremely talented) but has-beens such as Bangar, Joshi hold little interest for me and doubtlessly the majority of the supporters.

If the IPL is going to truly explode the foreign count has to be increased.

I dont know about that. IPL organizers would like, but don't really care much about non Indian viewers. Indian TV rights went for 1 billion, Australian for 15 million. I am not sure if seeing anyone outside the top international stars would be a big draw for Indian crowds. In fact, outside the top twenty-twenty five international stars, the rest wouldn't pull as much weight with the Indian public, so it doesn't make sense for the IPL to waste money on them when they can get Indian fill ins for much cheaper.
